I promise that communities will have a say in planning what gets built in their area. We need to make sure new developments are well planned, with homes people want to live in and the infrastructure to support them. It’s shocking that Thurston has 70% more housing but no new infrastructure. This is unacceptable, and I strongly oppose it. When talking about solutions to the housing supply crisis, it's easy to just focus on supporting new development. But existing housing, especially affordable housing, is a key part of the solution. YYC... a successful strategy to address housing affordability must include the new development of all property types, including Detached homes, and not at the expense of existing Detached homes. My presentation to Council.... Time did not permit for my solution... the development of new communities, supporting all property types and services, adjacent the Ring Rd.. This would take advantage of existing transportation and utilities infrastructure, including the LRT which currently intersects the Ring Rd at four points, providing public transit to the city.
