I promise that communities will have a say in planning what gets built in their area. We need to make sure new developments are well planned, with homes people want to live in and the infrastructure to support them. It’s shocking that Thurston has 70% more housing but no new infrastructure. This is unacceptable, and I strongly oppose it. That’s why I want to ensure communities have a real voice in the planning process, instead of having decisions forced on them by others. #VoteIndependent #BuryStEdmunds #Stowmarket #GeneralElection24

When talking about solutions to the housing supply crisis, it's easy to just focus on supporting new development. But existing housing, especially affordable housing, is a key part of the solution. Every year, units are lost to age and damage, while still others transition from subsidized rental housing to the private market or the portfolios of private investors. Preserving existing housing is necessary if new construction hopes to keep pace with these losses. As part or the Urban Institute's new, comprehensive national framework on housing, we've gathered all of our recent data, discussion, analysis, on how we can preserve the existing housing supply in one place. Did you know that modular home quality has increased in recent years? In addition, many are energy-efficient and save money on utility costs for their residents. Modular housing is one of many solutions to the current housing crisis, which is why OHCS is using $20 million toward faster production across Oregon. YYC... a successful strategy to address housing affordability must include the new development of all property types, including Detached homes, and not at the expense of existing Detached homes. My presentation to Council.... Time did not permit for my solution... the development of new communities, supporting all property types and services, adjacent the Ring Rd.. This would take advantage of existing transportation and utilities infrastructure, including the LRT which currently intersects the Ring Rd at four points, providing public transit to the city.
