This #WorldAIDSDay2024, we celebrate the progress made to reduce #HIV transmission and improve treatment outcomes around the world, but we also recognize we still have much left to do. #PEPFAR has ensured #data is at the heart of the U.S. Government's response so we know both where we've been and where we are going to end AIDS. The impact of HIV among Hispanic Texans: Trends and inequities. Despite the strides made in #HIV #prevention and #care in the U.S., the battle against the epidemic is far from over. The past 15 years have seen a concerning trend, with #HIVDiagnoses among #Hispanic #Texans either remaining stagnant or increasing across most counties. In 2023, #HispanicTexans accounted for more than half of the cases in #Texas. #WorldAIDSDay #AIDS #Stage3 #LateDiagnosis Daniel Castellanos Roxana Guzman Guillermo Chacon Judith Montenegro #LatinosInTheSouth Latino Commission on AIDS HISPANIC HEALTH NETWORK INC

Did You Know? Gender-based violence (GBV) increases women’s vulnerability to HIV infection. Studies show that women experiencing intimate partner violence are up to 50% more likely to acquire HIV than those who do not. This World AIDS Day, let’s amplify the call to end GBV as a critical step toward reducing HIV transmission and protecting women’s rights. #16DaysOfActivism #EndGBV #WorldAidsDay #EndStigmatization #Dec1 #HIV

The global fight against HIV has seen remarkable progress: 84% of pregnant women with HIV now receive life-saving antiretroviral treatment, and new infections among children have dropped 62% since 2010. But the work is far from over. Only 57% of children with HIV receive treatment, and 250 children die from AIDS-related causes daily. Adolescent girls remain particularly vulnerable, with new infections far from the SDG target. Let's redouble our efforts to close these gaps and protect the most vulnerable. #HIV #globalhealth #SDGs #IAS2024 #HIVPrevention #HealthEquity #SDGs #AIDS2024

#WorldAIDSDay is a time to commemorate how far we’ve come in the journey against HIV, and to remember those we’ve lost along the way. Life changing medicines like antiretroviral therapies, PrEP, and PEP have marked a new era in how we can treat and prevent HIV transmissions. #UequalsU is a powerful statement, but must be accompanied by action rooted in accurate information and compassion to #EndHIVstigma. Movements like #ZeroHIVStigmaDay encourage us to think about the immense harm stigma perpetuates — it prevents people from testing, living well, and staying on treatment. Ending #HIV stigma will shatter barriers and help us achieve the 2030 goal of ending onwards transmissions. This year, we asked our team what World AIDS Day means to them. What does it mean to you?
