How the New Zealand All Blacks inspired our company Culture Book 🏉 Don’t worry, Kainos hasn’t introduced the haka at the start of team meetings! This is about how the New Zealand rugby team influenced our recently released company culture book… The All Blacks have long been synonymous with excellence, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement. However, their legacy extends far beyond the rugby pitch, inspiring so many people and organisations across the globe. Kainos is no exception. In fact, when we recently launched our company Culture Book, we took inspiration from a key part of the All Blacks’ culture to help tell our story; the little black book. When a player makes the All Blacks, they’re given a small black book, bound in leather. The first few pages are about the club’s legacy, history and what they have achieved over the years. The next section outlines the principles, values, standards and the character of the team. The rest of the pages are blank, waiting to be filled. Each player is encouraged to capture their experiences while playing at the club. This is designed to inspire themselves and others who will follow in their footsteps. We absolutely loved this concept and saw it as a great way to keep our own story alive. So, we decided to implement this in own Culture Book. 📕 Read The Kainos Culture Book: https://lnkd.in/efZ4h6_3 Our Culture Book brings together our history, mission, values and aspirations into one space, providing a foundation for our people to work from. It’s written by our people for everyone who has an interest in who we are and why we do what we do. Best of all, the back pages are blank and we intend to keep our story alive by inviting anyone who works for us, with us or alongside us to add to these. Lots of people in my network will have some great stories, memories or anecdotes about Kainos to share, so if you’d like to make your mark in the Kainos story, please comment below or follow this link: https://lnkd.in/ek4Th-H7 For everyone else, I hope you enjoy reading our story and our commitment to creating a positive and inspiring place to work.

If we take a moment to look, signs of collaboration inspiration, and team work are all around us. This weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the Varsity Spirit All-star Summit event, and I have to say it was incredible. Not only did we see some phenomenal talent, we saw cheer teams watching and encouraging their competitors during practice, we saw amazing sportsmanship displayed by teams who were competing with each other. We saw signs of outstanding team work. One of the most impressive things I saw was when a team’s routine did not go as planned, and how the team did not blame each other, but supported each other in how to get better, focusing on things to improve. Whether you are a fan of the Cheer Leading sport or not, many of these lessons can be brought back to the workplace. We can learn from this event how to celebrate each other’s successes, how to support one another in times of difficulty or when projects or tasks come up short. We can learn how to support others who may be in competition with us for a job, a project, or funding. I know many reading this may have a vision in their mind when I mention a Cheer Leading competition, but what I saw was a ton of lessons we can learn, and bring back to our corporate environments to enhance culture and drive greater success.

Part 2: Tears on this one!! 😭 Team Building through communication is key in sports, business, and life. Recently, I conducted a powerful exercise with The Harvard Women’s 🏀 Team to enhance team culture. Each player selected a number between 1-15, corresponding to a teammate's photo, and shared one thing they loved about them. What unfolded was truly inspiring - the exercise sparked a cascade of heartfelt compliments, fostering a strong bond among the team. Such team building activities have the remarkable ability to unite a team on a deeper level! #TeamBuilding #Communication #TeamCulture #HarvardWomensBasketball

Last week I posted a workshop deck I developed after reading the book #TheBarcelonaWay by Damian Hughes. For me that was an overall message codifying what the Barcelona football team and Pep Guardiola did to create and sustain a High-Performance Team and culture. Slide 15 of that deck shows the #ArcOfChange journey displaying the 5 stages a team goes through to be forged into a high-performing team. So, I thought this would be a great follow up to the first one and gave me a great way to build on the message we had seeded with the first session. 1. DREAM Big 2. Take the LEAP 3. FIGHT through the struggles 4. CLIMB and ascend 5. Finally ARRIVE With the help of my team at the time, we curated a day at the beach for the 20+ strong marketing team interlacing each stage with meaningful activities that captured the essence of each stage. Obviously kicking it off with anchoring us in the starting point and why we were doing this in the first place is very important. In most cases, I've seen that using engagement scores provides a good use case. In instances where those are already high, the pitch can be slightly different of course. Once again, I've infused the content with some videos and quotes but probably the activity with most impact is the first one where everyone gets to know one another a bit more intimately by sharing their Triple Hs: Heroes, Hardship and Highlights of their lives in 5 minutes each. Since my formula calls for being open and vulnerable as a first step to building a great culture and a high-performing team, this activity is a great intro into this session. #teambuilding #highperfomingteams #workplaceculture #culture #bonding #productivity #engagement #workshops
