🚦SMTC has a survey out, and if you live, work, bike, bus, walk, have elevated mobility needs, or frequent the City of Syracuse, you should be sharing your feedback. 🚲🦽🛴👟🐕🦺🦯 “The SMTC is currently in the process of creating a new 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP)! This plan (also referred to as a ‘long range transportation plan’ or LRTP) describes the current state of our surface transportation system, examines anticipated trends, and lays out a vision for the future of our region’s transportation system. The SMTC is required to update this plan every 5 years, with our next MTP due in September 2025.” https://lnkd.in/g3Gr5-wV I believe it closes on Friday the 13th. #Transportation #Commute #Bike #Walk #PublicTransit #Future #Innovation #Motivation #Sustainability #GreenInfrastructure #SMTC #Walkability

As passenger numbers in rail transport increase, the demands on the mode of transport are also changing. Long-distance journeys should be as fast as possible from A to B and trains should be designed to be barrier-free. The Deutsches Zentrum für Schienenverkehrsforschung (DZSF) will soon be conducting research into how these requirements can be met and to what extent concepts such as #Hyperloop are already fully developed. With RMR | Rail Market Research, we report on similarly exciting and current research projects in a monthly newsletter. The latest issue can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dBdMEeMR

Pencil in May 26 - 29 next year for the HVTT symposia in Quebec, Canada. HVTT is a great opportunity to meet a significant share of the global lead professionals within heavy vehicles transport technology, expand network, learn and exchange knowledge and best practices. We in the Nordisk Vejforum NVF working group on Vehicles and Transportation arranged HVTT in Stockholm 2012, which had profound impact in terms of 'Setting Future Standards' in the Nordic countries. In 2013, Finland increased max gross vehicle combinations weight to 76 ton, followed by 34,5 m max length. In 2015, Sweden increased to 64 ton, and 2018 to 74 ton. Now we also have 34,5 m. Since 2012, also Denmark and Norway have taken numerous steps to increase the capacity of several types of heavy vehicles. These new standards have strongly increased sustainability of road transports. The HVTT symposia facilitated the evolution. Take the opportunity to participate in Quebec 2025! Call for papers has opened.
** HVTT18 Québec City - Call for abstracts ** It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 18th International Symposium on Heavy Vehicle Transport & Technology, and to share with you the call for abstracts and symposium website! Join us at HVTT18 to tackle current challenges in the development of S2MART road freight transport systems, ensuring they are Sustainable, Safe, Modern, Adaptable, Resilient, and Trustworthy. This four-day collaborative event will be hosted by the Université Laval, located in historic Québec City, Canada, from May 26 to 29, 2025. Short abstracts (300 to 500 words) are due on April 19, 2024. We look forward to seeing you there! Building intelligence – Multitalented Control Command and Signalling Digitalisation offers great opportunities for faster capacity expansion #Control #command and #signalling is essential for safe #rail operations and is therefore the backbone of rail #transport. According to analyses by expert consulting company SCI Verkehr GmbH, the global market volume for control command and signalling currently is EUR 19.3 billion and will grow by an average rate of 4.6% per year from 2023 to 2028 – with a special focus on new development and upgrade. Main driver of this development is #digitalisation: It enhances the functionality of control command and signalling far beyond aspects of operational safety. Modern technical solutions increase capacity as well as interoperability, provide more comfort and allow for better environmental protection – without the need for lengthy physical infrastructure expansions. Thus, #infrastructure managers all over the world increasingly invest in modern control command and signalling. But there are noteworthy national and regional differences as #SCI Verkehr points out. In #China, for example, considerable sums have already been invested in modern systems in recent years as part of large investments in rail infrastructure. From 2023 to 2028 SCI Verkehr therefore expects the Chinese market to grow only at a rather low speed of 1.6% per year on average. Main drivers will be renewal and maintenance while the market for new development and upgrade will even slightly decrease. The picture looks different in #Europe and especially in #Germany. Largely outdated and very heterogeneous control command and signalling systems will require extensive #investment in the future. Accordingly, SCI Verkehr predicts the European market to grow above the worldwide average between 2023 and 2028. The growth rate will be at 5.3% per year on average whereby new development and upgrade projects will be of particular importance. In its study “Control Command and Signalling – Worldwide Market Trends”, SCI Verkehr GmbH illustrates these and other developments. 👉 You can order the #study in the #SCI online shop: https://lnkd.in/e64HcjfA If you have any further questions, please contact Kata Borbély. #SCI #consultancy #rail #infrastructure #logistics #data #study #raildata #klusii #digitalisation

As a follow-up to my previous points on why Brisbane 2032 must embrace a 10D approach, I want to outline further reasons why we need to start the process now. It is essential to begin as soon as possible because experiences from both our own Cross River Rail project and the Paris Olympics have shown that digitising data is a significant undertaking. However, this task becomes increasingly valuable as an investment the sooner we initiate it. #2032 #digitaltwin #brisbane2032
