Celebrating 25 Years of Lloyd’s Asia! 🎊
Last week, we marked a significant milestone as colleagues and friends from the Lloyd’s Asia platform, joined by our Global Leadership Team, came together to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Lloyd’s Asia platform.
The celebrations took place at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Singapore, providing a perfect setting to reflect on the milestones achieved and the successes that have shaped the platform over the years.
Congratulations and huge thanks to Dawn Miller, Chris Mackinnon and Emma Loynes for hosting this memorable event - and to the incredible teams and service companies whose hard work has made Lloyd’s Asia platform the success it is today.
Here’s to the next 25 years!

Congratulations to all concerned. I am amongst those who can recollect the opening of Lloyd's in Singapore 25 years ago, have traded with multiple syndicates over that time, have made many close friends there down the years and continue to work with the Lloyd's Asia platform. Can't promise I'll still be trading with Lloyd's Asia for the full period of the next 25 years, but I do wish everyone involved in the platform every wish for your continued success. You will continue to be a cornerstone of British exports and a beacon of reinsurance professionalism, expertise, capacity and unequalled security for the next 25 years, and beyond. Thank you...
Congratulations Lloyd's Asia on this incredible milestone! May you continue to grow from strength to strength. Here's to the next milestone. Best wishes from the LSA team

Pushing Beyond, on the Trails and at Work 🏔️
This weekend, I had the privilege of participating in the Ultra-Trail Harricana (UTHC), an experience that truly tests your physical and mental limits. As I made my way through the mountains, it reminded me that growth happens in discomfort. Whether it’s out in nature or in our work at Pratt & Whitney Canada, our ability to push beyond our limits is what makes us stronger.
At Pratt & Whitney Canada, our slogan is “Go Beyond,” and it perfectly reflects what I experienced on the trails. Every challenge, every obstacle overcome, is an opportunity to grow and innovate. This mindset is what drives us to excel every day, to innovate, and to push the boundaries of what we believe is possible.
For those of you who share the same DNA, who thrive on pushing yourselves, I encourage you to bring that philosophy here at P&WC. Joint PWC, go to PWC web site and apply!!!
It’s in discomfort and effort that we truly surpass ourselves. Whether it’s in endurance races or the aerospace industry, that’s where leaders emerge, and it’s how we continue to go beyond for our customers, our colleagues, and our industry. ✈️

Chapman Freeborn Airchartering is soaring to new heights with the appointment of Linas Dovydenas as President of the India, Middle East & Africa (IMEA) region. His leadership promises incredible opportunities!
Here’s why this is a big deal:
Proven Expertise: With 16 years at Avia Solutions Group, Linas played a key role in its global growth.
Regional Focus: He’ll now focus on expanding Chapman Freeborn's presence across IMEA, a key market for aviation growth.
Strategic Vision: As a former CEO and CCO, Linas brings unmatched insights to drive innovation and progress.
Linas isn’t the only new face! Earlier this month, Chapman Freeborn also welcomed Bernardo Nunes as Chief Operating Officer. Together, they’re shaping a bright future for the company.
“From 2007 until 2023 Linas played an integral part in almost all of Avia Solutions Group’s group companies’ development and geographical expansion, so he is exceptionally placed to step into the role of President, IMEA, at Chapman Freeborn and turn his attention to accelerating our growth in the region,” said Eric Erbacher, Group CEO, Chapman Freeborn.
Why does this matter?
This leadership refresh reflects the aviation industry's dynamic nature and the need for strong, experienced leaders. It’s inspiring to see companies prioritize growth and innovation even in challenging times.

We witness firsthand the plight of our maritime heroes, who are often overlooked and undervalued.
Their sacrifices went unrecognized, and their challenges were amplified by an industry lacking empathy.
GMC was our response to this crisis.
I, along with esteemed leaders Kaushik Seal, Mohit Kapoor, and Sonali Banerjee, founded the Global Maritime Community (GMC) to address these critical issues.
Special thanks to Kaushik for your commitment and dedication to seafarers.
GMC is not just another maritime organization.
It is a not-for-profit organization.
A community to foster a culture of care, respect, and collaboration within the industry.
Our approach is unique.
Our mission is clear: to inspire, motivate, and empower maritime leaders and seafarers alike.
We are crafting a legacy. A legacy that will be remembered for its compassion, its impact, and its dedication to the seafarer.
Maritime leaders, managers, and everyone in between can come together, share ideas, and drive positive change.
Join us in our journey to transform the maritime industry and make it a place where every seafarer is valued, respected, and celebrated.
Wamos Air Reshuffles Board After Abra Group Integration - Wamos Air (Spain) has announced a comprehensive reshuffle of its board following its integration into the Abra Group (UK). The move reflects the airline’s strategic realignment under the group’s leadership and its focus on bolstering governance and operational oversight. Effective immediately, Eduardo Montes will step down as chairman, with Adrian Neuhauser, a key figure within the Abra Group, taking over the role. Neuhauser brings extensive experience in aviation and corporate leadership, which is expected to support Wamos Air’s continued growth and integration within the Abra Group’s global network. - https://lnkd.in/dxYPCtx6
1️⃣ 0️⃣ 0️⃣ airline CEOs have now committed to the IATA Safety Leadership Charter, Lynne Embleton, CEO of Aer Lingus, is the latest leader to sign the Charter.
With these 100 CEOs representing 70% of global traffic, IATA's Director General, Willie Walsh, called on the remaining industry leaders to join this vital initiative: “Flying is safe because aviation’s safety culture begins at the very top level of management.”
Lynne Embleton reinforced Aer Lingus’ commitment: "Safety is our top priority. Signing this Charter solidifies our dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards across all areas of our airline.”
The IATA Safety Leadership Charter outlines 8️⃣ core principles aimed at promoting a robust #safety culture. Let’s continue building an industry where safety leads the way. 👉 https://bit.ly/3N9WRf4Aer Lingus Director of Safety & Security Conor Nolan @ #IATAWSOC being presented charter by IATA DG Willie Walsh at #IATAWSOC
Qantas has taken quite a hit to its reputation in recent times. Here's what independent advisor Tom Saar had to say about the company's leadership style:
"The group had a ‘command and control’ leadership style with centralised decisions and an experienced and dominant CEO. This contributed to a top-down culture, which impacted empowerment and a willingness to challenge or ‘speak up’ on issues or decisions of concern.”
Just underscores the criticality of psychological safety. Without it you don't have a culture of trust; you have a culture of silence.

💥 Decisive Leadership Matters:
King Louis XVI's indecision played a significant role in his downfall. He delayed crucial actions, repeatedly hesitated, and ultimately failed to act when it mattered most. For a CEO, this highlights the importance of making timely and decisive decisions, especially in critical moments. Hesitation can lead to missed opportunities and potential disaster.
💥 Understand Your Environment:
The King and Queen underestimated the extent of the changes brought by the French Revolution, particularly in the countryside. They assumed rural areas would still be loyal, not realizing that societal dynamics had shifted drastically. For a CEO, it's crucial to stay informed and understand the evolving landscape of the market, competitors, and customer sentiment. Assumptions based on outdated information can be dangerous.
💥 Adaptability and Flexibility:
The royal family's escape plan failed partly because they clung to their comfort and luxury, using a conspicuous carriage instead of taking a more discreet approach. Leaders need to be adaptable and willing to make sacrifices when navigating crises. Flexibility in approach, even if it means stepping out of comfort zones, is often necessary for survival.
💥 Perception and Communication Are Key:
Louis XVI's letter explaining his departure was politically disastrous, confirming his disdain for the revolution. Leaders must be mindful of how their actions and communications are perceived, particularly in times of crisis. Transparency, consistency, and alignment with stakeholders' expectations are critical to maintaining trust.
💥 Importance of Execution:
The failure of the royal escape wasn't just due to bad luck but poor execution at multiple levels—planning, timing, and response to unexpected obstacles. For a CEO, meticulous execution of strategies is as important as the strategies themselves. A well-thought-out plan can still fail without precise and effective implementation.
💥 Recognize and Respond to Shifts in Power:
The revolution had fundamentally altered power structures, and the King failed to grasp that he no longer wielded control. CEOs must recognize shifts in power dynamics, whether within the organization, market, or broader societal context. A failure to adapt to new realities can result in losing control over the narrative and outcomes.

"Victories are not won by the many but by the valiant." - Hernán Cortés
"What nation that has ruled the world has never faced defeat? What renowned captain, I ask, ever returned home because he lost a battle or was expelled from a town? Not one, certainly, for without perseverance, they would not have conquered or triumphed."
I've been engrossed in a book I can't put down: "Conquistador: Hernán Cortés, King Montezuma, and the Last Stand of the Aztecs" by Buddy Levy.
This is one of the most fascinating accounts of this period in history, and I'm disappointed I didn't start learning more about it until recently.
