Today we celebrate #WorldContraceptionDay with the theme, “Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancy for the Health and Wellbeing of Mother and Child”. Family planning is a cornerstone of public health and a crucial element in achieving sustainable development. By enabling individuals to make informed decisions about their reproductive health, we can significantly improve maternal and child health outcomes, reduce unintended pregnancies and promote economic stability within our families and communities. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to improving family planning services in Rivers State through several key initiatives. His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Grand Service Star of Rivers State, the Governor of Rivers State, has shown strong commitment to providing leadership and guidance in steering the health sector towards improved health outcomes for all inhabitants of the state. By providing large stocks of various categories of contraceptive commodities, to be given free of charge to women in need of these services in Rivers State. This is to ensure that there is enough family planning commodities to serve the inhabitants of the state, in line with his vision for a healthier Rivers State. In my World Contraception Day broadcast, I discuss the importance of family planning for maternal and child health, economic stability, and sustainable development, empowering women to make informed choices about their reproductive health and outline key government initiatives aimed at improving access to family planning services. Listen to the full broadcast! #WorldContraceptionDay2024 #ReproductiveHealth #FamilyPlanning #Health4AllRivers #RiversState

In my humble opinion, it doesn’t matter how a child is born. As long as the mother and child are in good health after the delivery process, that’s what matters. Mothers lose their lives or babies during childbirth regardless of the method of delivery. So what should concern us is that both mother and child are okay. However, it is very unfortunate in the era we leave in today, some women are the ones leading in shaming their fellow women for giving birth through C-sections. To all mothers out there, whether you gave birth through C-section or vaginal delivery, you are a wonderful person great job. Be proud of yourself! In conclusion, there’s no easy way or the abnormal way or safest way of giving birth. All have huge risks and some are life-threatening. Let’s celebrate motherhood and stop dishonouring women who gave birth using a different method the ideal choice of society. Awareness is key
It’s Black Maternal Health Week, and according to @CDCgov, Black women across the country are *three* times more likely to die from pregnancy than white women. During #BMHW, many organizations are working together to build awareness, activism, and deepen the conversation about Black maternal health in the United States. #BlackMaternalHealthWeek #BlackMamasMatter
