The EDL Landfill Gas team had the pleasure of hosting David Davis, Victorian Shadow Minister for Energy, Affordability and Security and Member for Southern Metropolitan Region, and Cindy McLeish MP, Member for Eildon, on a tour of our Clayton power station south-east of Melbourne last week. EDL has operated a 12MW power station at Clayton South since 1995, which generates approximately 53 gigawatt hours (GWh) of renewable electricity per year – enough to power the equivalent of about 10,000 homes – using waste gas captured from the now closed landfill owned by Cleanaway Waste Management. Methane-rich gas generated by decomposing organic matter buried within the rehabilitated landfill is captured by a network of wells that feed a bank of 12 generating engines, which in turn supply electricity into the National Electricity grid. Each year EDL generates more than 1,500 GWh of renewable electricity from our landfill gas power stations across Australia, North America and Canada and Europe. #renewableenergy #landfillgas #wastetoenergy

Gradiant has announced the launch of ProtiumSource, an end-to-end solution for #electrolyzer-ready #water. As a feedwater-agnostic solution, ProtiumSource guarantees the delivery of high-purity, electrolyzer-ready water from any #feedwater input, including #seawater, #brackishwater, and treated #wastewater, making it highly adaptable to operating environments with limited access to high-quality input water. Additionally, it mitigates the challenge of managing brine by recycling all water with the option to produce zero or minimal liquid discharge. The system also claims to offer industry-leading #efficiency, utilizing Gradiant’s RO Infinity with CFRO technology to deliver what the company describes as best-in-class performance with the lowest energy demand, reducing overall capital requirements for #renewableenergy infrastructure. Furthermore, ProtiumSource is said to ensure the lowest total life cycle costs by providing high-purity source water that exceeds the specified requirements for all electrolyzer systems, extending their usable life and reducing CAPEX, OPEX, and total life cycle costs. Agrivoltaics - More institutions and companies have begun to investigate how to create an operating model where renewable energy and agriculture go hand in hand and coexist, supporting and strengthening each other. In #Agrivoltaics projects, #solar panels are not placed on the roofs of buildings, but the panels and cultivation activities are located on the same land area, fields, or berry #farms. In this case, there is no need to decommission forest or arable land under solar power plants. The combination kills multiple birds with one stone. The operating model would solve many topical issues in terms of #renewable #energy and #sustainable development, efficient land use, domestic agriculture, and food production. Gas what? 💨 #OurJacobs is working on an innovative project with Anglian Water Services to address a triple carbon synergy- reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) and energy use in wastewater treatment, potentially producing renewable energy as green hydrogen. Currently, wastewater treatment is carbon-intensive due to high energy use and the production of potent GHG like methane and nitrous oxide. Funded through Ofwat’s Innovation Fund, this trial demonstrates the concept for wider implementation, involving industry experts and a demonstration plant at the water recycling center. Great to see new results from The Transport Project and Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas that 79% of natural gas used in the transportation sector is Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). RNG is produced from methane captured at dairy farms, landfills, and wastewater treatment plants. Capturing this potent greenhouse gas and using it to displace fossil fuels is a winning strategy. RNG has been UPS's most effective and scalable solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from our trucks. We are the largest RNG user in the country, and are continuing to grow our alternative fuel fleet. https://lnkd.in/g9mzVDVZ
