Public sector decision-makers in the UK’s leading Northern cities and towns are on a mission to secure #regeneration investment and growth - but becoming 'investor ready' requires long-term perspective and a commitment to enacting socio-economic transformation. From Forth Yards in #Newcastle to The Strand in #Bootle, collaborations between public and private sector stakeholders are driving forward critical infrastructure development, setting the stage for private investment and contributing to the North's ambition to become a powerhouse. For EG I explore the key strategies that Avison Young │UK and partners are implementing to reshape the landscape of the North, generating new opportunities for growth and cracking the viability challenge. https://lnkd.in/eXkuQdJg

🏗✨ We need action to bring major regeneration projects forward more quickly. That’s according to our CEO and Co-Chair of the True North network, Robert White, who has spoken to Insider Media about the roadblocks that such projects face and the negative impact this is having on the North’s prosperity. “In addition to the time and cost involved in securing the funding for major projects in the first place, communities in the North appear to also be facing increased bureaucracy throughout the development process”, says Robert. "Feedback from stakeholders in the property and construction industry — particularly at our quarterly Building Links networking events for business leaders — is that the planning system is one of the biggest hindrances to development projects across all sectors. Arguably the most disappointing aspect of how lengthy and bureaucratic it appears to be to bring major development projects forward in the North is how this seems to contrast with some major schemes benefitting other parts of the country — in particular the South East.” ➡ Get Robert’s full perspective: https://lnkd.in/eGDr5EsV ➡ Find out how True North is working to drive progress and address the chasm between Northern productivity and prosperity: https://lnkd.in/eqv-5zf5 #BrabnersTrueNorth

Lack of trust & belief often hampers potential opportunities... However, the City of Columbus worked it out smartly !!! What builds trust, belief or confidence? Do we have to do anything differently? Let's delve into a unique case study to see how the City of Columbus pulled one thing through another and achieved its objective of being a smart city. The challenge that Columbus city faced is common with every other city, corporation or government. It is tough to make someone believe in what you are doing and get to invest. When it comes to investments, it is not the funds that get traded but 'trust' as a currency that gets exchanged. Leaders, governments and organizations across the world can use the example of Columbus city to see beyond short-term benefits and work towards a broader vision. What Columbus City did is an excellent example for economies where trust in political leaders is questionable!!! Where political stability is uncertain !!! At P3 World Council we believe in cross-pollination of ideas, opportunities and best practices across markets, regions and geographies. We believe that we all have something to learn from each other. We all commit mistakes, we all fail, we all handle our challenges uniquely and we all succeed as well. That's why, P3 World Council as a platform works with a mission to interconnect all such learnings & experiences and make a positive impact on the ecosystem. Do share your thoughts & observations on this case study...

Convergence of Indigenous and Western Planning 🏞️🏙️ The conversation around planning and development has often been framed as a contrast between Indigenous and Western approaches. But what if we recognized that both have something vital to offer the future of our communities? 🔍 Indigenous Planning emphasizes interconnectedness, responsibility to land and ancestors, and a holistic worldview rooted in relational accountability and community-led decision-making. It's about balance, cultural identity, and thinking beyond today and consider future generations. 🏙️ On the other hand, Western Planning often centers on economic development, infrastructure, and data-driven decision-making. Its structured, professionalized, and top-down processes provide an avenue for scalability, growth, and regulation. 🔄 The Convergent Zone between these two approaches is where the magic happens—where resilience, collaboration, and co-creation meet to shape the future of planning. This zone recognizes that equity, place-making, reconciliation and cultural sensitivity are key to thriving, inclusive communities that honor the land and the people who call it home. Our challenge and opportunity as planners, community builders, policy makers, facilitators and decision-makers, is to bring these worlds together, ensuring our designs respect both relational knowledge and modern sustainability goals. We need to lead with relationality—weaving together and creating spaces where all voices are valued 🤝. As we move forward, let’s center both innovation and wisdom, knowing that the most sustainable future is one that includes all of us. 🌱 Let's build together. For today. For the next seven generations. Read more 👇 https://lnkd.in/gcCUCb2T #PlanningForTheFuture #IndigenousLeadership #Sustainability #UrbanDesign #CommunityLed #Resilience #EquityInPlanning

A thoughtful perspective on opportunities for integration of Indigenous and Western worldviews. The items in the 'convergent zone' highlight the opportunity to build systems-level understanding and approaches to ecosystem and resource stewardship and #geoengineering.
