*Modified Herbicide Sprayer to apply non selective herbicide in selective crops* Dr.Santosh Modifying herbicide sprayers for selective application of non-selective herbicides requires a comprehensive approach to ensure crop safety and weed control efficacy. The primary objective is to direct the herbicide precisely onto target weeds while minimizing exposure to valuable crops. This is achieved through a series of strategic modifications and techniques. Protective shields, customized to accommodate varying crop heights and cropping geometry, are installed around spray nozzles to focus the herbicide application. Specialized nozzles, such as hooded or shrouded variants, further concentrate the spray pattern. Low-drift nozzles and drift control agents in the herbicide solution mitigate the risk of unintended dispersal. The sprayer boom's height is made adjustable to maintain optimal distance from the crop canopy, reducing potential crop contact. Some systems incorporate full boom enclosures for enhanced protection. Careful selection of nozzle type, shield design, and boom configuration is crucial for each specific crop and field condition. During application, continuous monitoring and real-time adjustments ensure maintained precision. The modified sprayer system typically consists of a herbicide tank, pump, distribution hoses, and the spray boom equipped with shielded nozzles. This setup allows for the controlled flow of herbicide from the tank to the targeted application points. By implementing these modifications, agricultural professionals can effectively utilize non-selective herbicides in fields with selective crops, achieving superior weed management while safeguarding crop health. This approach not only enhances the efficiency of herbicide use but also contributes to sustainable farming practices by minimizing environmental impact and optimizing resource utilization.

The crop protection sector in the calendar year 2023 presented a complex picture, characterized by both growth and contraction across its various segments. This year was shaped by significant challenges, notably persistent wage inflation and elevated inventory costs, which impacted the market in multifaceted ways. A pivotal factor influencing market dynamics was the destocking of inventory by retailers, particularly for generic products but also those of key proprietary crop protection products. This movement exerted downward pressure on crop protection prices in crucial markets, leading to a notable contraction in sell-in across almost all regions and major markets. 🚀 Vietnam’s Department of Crop Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Can Tho City, and IRRI launched the model fields for the 1 Million Hectares Program. 🌾 What happens in these model fields? They are sites for major rice production innovations like alternate wetting and drying (AWD) management, integrated pest management for plant protection, mechanized DSR combined fertilizer deep placement, site-specific nutrient management and even straw collection for mushroom cultivation and straw-based fertilizer production. 🍄 These technologies are expected to help reduce seed rate, fertilizer use, and postharvest losses while increasing rice yield.
