IMPORTANT- The HCAA agree the 1981 Medicines Act needs revamping. However, we are extremely concerned about the statements in this Ministerial Proactive Release - you should be too. We have valid concerns around profit being more important than New Zealanders’ health and wellbeing. Where is the emphasis on patient safety? Patient Safety and prevention of avoidable harm must be made a key priority! https://lnkd.in/g4_uzh_E A huge concern is this- how products should be replicated:

CHF is proud to add our voice to mark #WorldPatientSafetyDay on Tuesday 17 September - because everyone deserves safe, high-quality healthcare. As a patient, you have the right to be actively involved in your healthcare. Here's a few simple ways you can be involved: - Ask questions – Always speak up if something doesn’t feel right or if you need clarification about your care. -Keep track of medications – Know the names, doses, and side effects of any medications you are prescribed. - Provide complete information – Share your full medical history and any allergies with your healthcare team to avoid unnecessary risks. - Involve loved ones – Having a trusted person with you during medical appointments can help remember key information or catch potential issues. Check labels and procedures – Before taking any medication or undergoing treatment, make sure it aligns with your doctor's instructions. Always double-check! The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has developed a range or resources and tools for consumers to better understand their healthcare rights. Before a hospital visit, it’s expected that you might feel nervous, but there’s no need to worry about your doctor making a mistake. Medical errors are rare and often occur during care transitions. A prominent study found that up to 80 percent of serious medical errors involve miscommunication during the handoff between medical providers. Keep these four actions in mind during care transitions: Plan Ahead: Keep a list of medications, allergies, and medical history on hand. Ask Questions: Ensure you understand your care and treatment decisions. Bring Support: Have a family member, friend, or health advisor with you. Facilitate Communication: Request that your providers communicate directly. An expert health advisor can help mitigate risk by managing these transitions so you can focus on staying healthy. _ _ _ Have you experienced difficulties during care transitions?
