Did you know that shipping has its own holiday magic? Hint: it's in the shipping containers. Fun fact, did you know that on Christmas Eve, Santa would need to deliver gifts to ~2.5 billion children worldwide? To make this happen in one night, Santa would: 🎁 need to cover 75 million kilometers at 1,000 times the speed of sound 🎁 require 37.9 million TEUs to transport all the gifts. Luckily, Santa's sleigh is powered by holiday magic. And for the rest of us, logistics & global shipping are powered by human expertise. During peak periods, the global shipping industry moves about 1 million TEUs per day. With that taken into account, it would take the global shipping industry nearly 38 days to transport the volume of gifts that Santa delivers in a single night.! Although both are grounded in planning and coordination, logistics teams work behind the scenes to ensure that gifts and goods reach their destinations on time. We can all agree that Santa has a shipping container at the North Pole, right? 🎅 Whilst that is very unlikely in reality, it does lend itself to one thing that we love about a container; the endless possibility! Containers are used for the most part for storage - whether that be domestic or commercial, short-term or long-term. However, more and more people are finding that they can convert a container to be used as an additional leisure or work space, or to be the starting point for that business idea. 💡 Sadly, we can't pop a container underneath the Christmas tree (we tried it before and it didnt end well), but if you give us a call we can definitely make one Christmas wish come true...assuming that wish is for a shipping container 😆 As we are heading towards the Christmas and New Year break, check out our previous post where we've outlined our operating hours over the next couple of weeks.
