#immigrants #immigrantstories #NonProfit #Membership ❤️Two years ago this fall, I published my first book, "Thriving in Intersectionality: Immigrants, Belonging, and Corporate America." This summer, we rolled out the Immigrants in Corporate (IIC) Membership platform. Reflecting on the quotes and interviews from the book and for this book, sending a reminder that we are all shaped by the communities we are part of. What communities are you missing ? If you are an immigrant professional looking for a space to thrive, the “IIC Membership platform” is for you. This is a space where we connect, build successful careers, and drive change together. Join us and share with your network!

Over the past 11 years, we have provided a platform for young professionals and university undergraduates to gain work experience in their chosen fields. More than just the humanitarian projects we embark on, we're committed to opening the doors of our 13 departments to the following groups: 1. Young people who want to gain experience to build a career in the nonprofit sector or start a nonprofit. 2. Passionate undergraduates who want to improve their employability and develop their skills. 3. Professionals who want to use their skills for a cause that resonates with their values. 4. Individuals interested in the rights and welfare of inmates, the welfare of orphans, community development, health (including cancer, sickle cell, and mental health). Our organization is about to open recruitment for: 📌A project in June 📌Volunteers for Q3 📌The Charity Series We're organizing a live session/Open Day for individuals interested in working with us. When you say you don't want your donation going only to "the cause"... be careful what that may actually mean. Heard this stat on Toronto Arts Foundation's Creative Champions call on Arts Advocacy yesterday: 77% of ALL non-profit workers are women, 47% are immigrants, and 35% are indigenous. This was something I felt I knew anecdotally, but to see the stats confirms it: supporting #community and #charity by *definition* means supporting marginalized, often racialized, women. But we have to support them too, not just "the cause". As those interested in #philanthropy, need to take to heart as we consider how we give. Operational funding, often derided as "overhead" is what goes to employ the charity professionals who help bring our dreams of #impact to life. They are black. They are indigenous. They are immigrants. They are women. And they are massively underpaid compared to comparable jobs in other sectors. There is a place for capital campaigns in donations, but without operational funding those campaigns can't happen. And know that if you decide to designate donations specifically *for* operations, you're also directly supporting marginalized communities. #artsandculture #arts #thearts #nonprofit #overheadmyth #donors

💡 “Working with nonprofits won’t bring in money…” I’ve heard this countless times. But here’s the truth: what it does bring is invaluable—purpose, insight, and the chance to create lasting change. Through partnerships with nonprofits, we’ve been able to listen, learn, and build Moil in a way that truly addresses the needs of the people we serve. These collaborations have allowed us to grow with the communities we support, gaining the understanding necessary to solve real problems—and now, those efforts are creating incredible opportunities. I’m proud to share that Moil has partnered with TxOR (Texas office for Refugees) to help over 8,000 people in the next year. Together, we’re working to connect individuals with better opportunities, more stable work, and a brighter future. For many, this isn’t just about finding a job—it’s about reclaiming dignity, creating growth, and finding hope. Yes, making money is important. But no amount of money can buy the experience of learning directly from the end user. These lessons have shaped us, allowing us to grow strategically and authentically, one step at a time. Looking ahead, we’re expanding our impact even further by working with the City of Austin to reach underserved communities, where unemployment rates for people of color are double the national average. The journey is challenging, but the reward of making a tangible difference in people’s lives makes every step worthwhile. 🎯 Do you know a nonprofit that could benefit from partnering with Moil? Let’s connect. Together, we can empower more individuals and provide the tools they need to succeed. Please share and send me a message or introduce us—we’re ready to grow with you and for the community. #Moil #NonprofitPartnerships #WorkforceDevelopment #Inclusion #CommunityImpact #BetterOpportunities #Austin #JobOpportunities

From Reentry to Economic Equity: Building Pathways to Prosperity underscores the importance of not only reintegrating individuals into society after incarceration but also ensuring their economic empowerment. This involves creating comprehensive pathways that lead to financial stability and long-term prosperity for justice-impacted individuals. These pathways may include access to education, vocational training, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship support, financial literacy programs, and other resources aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty and recidivism. By addressing the economic disparities faced by formerly incarcerated individuals, society can promote equity, foster economic mobility, and support successful reentry into communities. URM programs often conduct targeted staff recruitment to hire staff with the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of arriving unaccompanied minors and then promote their continued professional development. As a URM program manager in Grand Rapids stated, If we do not have a local ethnic community to draw professionals from, we ask USCCB/MRS to identify areas where there are established ethnic communities and advertise within those communities. In addition, we ask current staff and community leaders to reach out to their communities in and near Grand Rapids, as well as around the country, to recruit potential staff. As an employee benefit we have a scholarship program that assists staff in getting advanced degrees. We use this to encourage and support ethnic paraprofessional staff to get an advanced degree and then promote them into positions equivalent to that degree. #URM #staff #training #familyreunification #AtPromiseYouthSolutions #Houston #Texas #trailblazer #fostercare #fosteringsaveslives #fosterparents #fostering #fosterlove #fosterfamily #fostercareawareness #fosteringsaveslives #nonprofit #fosterkids #fosterchildren #GregBoyle #lovewhatyoudo #WomeninBusiness #momtrepreneur #DreamBig #AtRiskYouth #entrepreneurlife #entrepreneurship #entrepreneur

I love working with individuals passionate about finding success working in the nonprofit sector. 🌟 There are many dream jobs at nonprofits out there! Meanwhile, turnover remains a challenge for nonprofits. Did you know turnover costs between 30% and 150% of a job's salary (as per SHRM)? It's better to invest more in your team. While increasing wages can be beneficial, there are also creative and meaningful no-cost and low-cost ways to transform a good job into a great one. Curious to learn more about enhancing job satisfaction and reducing turnover in the nonprofit sector? Reach out to me for a chat. Let's explore strategies together! #nonprofitjobs #nonprofitcareers #community #lowturnover #organizationalculture

Thrilled to be showcased in Tipping Point Community’s annual report about its work on reducing poverty in the Bay Area, including for immigrants through workforce inclusion. Thanks to the support of Tipping Point’s network of funders for over a decade, Upwardly Global has been able to multiply its impact and help remove the employment barriers that prevent immigrant and refugee job seekers in San Francisco from obtaining skill-aligned work. In 2023 alone, we helped more than 1,000 job seekers in the Bay Area get a new job with an average starting salary of $72,000. In some cases, the job seekers that we worked with tripled their salary in less than a year. Tipping Point recognizes the critical importance of creating pathways to enable individuals at risk of poverty to secure well-paying jobs aligned with their skills and, consequently, unlock a brighter future. They also understand the importance of immigrants for cities like San Francisco. Investing in their integration and success is not just a choice but a necessity for maintaining thriving cities and communities. #Philanthropy #PhilanthropyMatters https://lnkd.in/e5Z5xnwt

Devon Community Foundation exists to tackle inequality and strengthen communities. In light of the violence in Plymouth on 5th August and in communities across the UK recently, we want to ensure our grant funding is accessed at this moment particularly by organisations in Plymouth and across Devon that are: • Directly supporting refugees and asylum seekers in terms of meeting immediate need and integration into local communities • Supporting black and racially minoritised groups to feel safe in Devon’s communities • Delivering anti-racism work or work encouraging religious understanding Led by people who have direct experience of racial abuse or marginalisation • Delivering work to strengthen relationships between Devon’s diverse communities We will be prioritising and fast-tracking applications through our small grants process (see link below) in the coming weeks and reaching out to organisations to support them to apply and making proactive small grants where appropriate. Please get in touch if you are doing or can recommend organisations doing this work – particularly at a grassroots level. Note that our usual small grants income threshold of £250,000 won’t apply where organisations can evidence that they are uniquely well placed to do this work. https://lnkd.in/giGU3uMt
