The 13th Annual Conference of Atlanta International Arbitration Society was well-executed, thanks to Christopher Smith, Shelby Guilbert, and ATLAS' officers and Board of Directors. The presenters did an excellent job covering a wide range of topics impacting international arbitration, key developments in the field, and other industry-specific considerations. And best of all, it was special to support my colleague and friend Natasha Richardson who did a fantastic job as a panelist in the first tertulia session. Well done! #arbitration #ADR #womensupportingwomen

A few thoughts on the occasion of the below. My first appointment as arbitrator came from the Swiss Arbitration Centre (former SCAI) 13 years ago. I was fortunate to benefit from my then-employer's enlightened policy of encouraging associates to take on arbitrator work, even for low-value cases (thank you, LALIVE!). To the practitioners looking for a first appointment - I am not the first to say this but it bears repeating: Let the institutions know you are here. They are actively looking to diversify their arbitrator pool and give newcomers a chance. #Ciarb #arbitrator #firstappointment

Ten days ago I had the privilege to attend Professor Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler’s keynote speech at the Latin American Arbitration Conference (CLA) in Rio de Janeiro, on the increasing complexities of international arbitration practice and how to tame them to ensure time and cost efficiency. My own question to her was whether she saw in her practice the use of #mediationwindows in the procedural timetable as a case management tool in light of the 2023 ICC Commission Report on Facilitating Settlement in International Arbitration. She answered this tool has been underused. #CLA #arbitration #LatinAmerica
