This time last week, we brought our members together to discuss some of the findings from our survey looking into how funders are responding to the recent surge in funding applications. Over the last few months we've heard from funders across our membership and further afield about a rise in the volume of applications. We conducted this survey to help us better understand how applications and demand from funded organisations is changing and effective strategies to adapt to this. Some of our results include: - Most respondents reported a 10-25% increase in funding requests - Respondents noted a trend of grantees seeking larger grants - Most reported adopting restrictive strategies in response - Funding pots have stagnated Head to our website for the full results: https://lnkd.in/edAQkZxP

It’s striking that all of the key takeaways from this study on how to better fund networks for #systemschange all center on the need for more information: 1) more information on #networkimpacts; 2) more information for donors about how networks work and what they can achieve; and 3) more information for both donors and networks about each other. This informational gap adds further evidence for the need to use social network analysis (#SNA) and other diagnostic network research and evaluation tools via a multi-valueholder engagement in collective impact, collective action, and impact network work. https://lnkd.in/ekCBZCyj

We asked several seasoned grant professionals located in New York State what trends, challenges, insights, and opportunities they see. Here's what they had to say: Pamela Ayers "Rural communities see a lot of disparities in healthcare. For example, grantors supporting healthcare think hospitals, but dispersed rural communities often need flexible funding such as mobile healthcare vans, but those aren’t always the obvious option." Carolyne Hevesi "Smaller nonprofits find themselves navigating complex requirements and reporting. Starting with capacity-building initiatives creates the foundation they need to succeed with these funding streams." Diane H. Leonard, GPC, RST "Post pandemic, we’re seeing New York grantmakers return to ‘business as usual,’ with stricter requirements than before. Strengthening relationships with grantmakers remains essential." Laureen Fredella "The emphasis has shifted toward diversity and equity. Organizations that fail to show a commitment to diversity—on their staff and board—risk losing out on funding, even with strong programs." 🔗 For full details on New York's grant landscape, access our report in the comments.
