The World Bank is funded by member country contributions and by issuing bonds. The largest country that funds the World Bank is the United States, followed by the United Kingdom and Japan. Its bonds connect the private and public sectors to the World Bank's development goals through such investors such as asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, central banks, corporations, and bank treasuries from around the world.
