It's national voter registration day and I was thinking compassionately about how hard so many people and groups of people have fought to access their born right to engage within our human family as equals. Nature knows: radical diversity is one of the key principles to sustaining life on this planet. We humans fight that and have for thousands of years. It's all fear driven. Fear of other. Diversity is life. Each voice is part of the whole. May we all feed the human ecosystem by casting our votes and empowering others to as well – as equals, and out of love. What documents do you need to register to vote? In most cases, you will need either a driver’s license or a state ID to register to vote. If you do not have either of these, you may be able to provide other types of documentation, including a bank statement or utility bill. But the required documents you need to register vary by state. May we all aspire to this highest appreciation and protection of life. #vote #love #respect #equality

Stop the Narrative: Stand Against Microaggressions We are deeply saddened by the recent incident involving Terrel Davis on United Airlines, as highlighted in his CNN interview. This incident is yet another example of the microaggressions that Black individuals face daily. These subtle yet harmful actions can have a profound impact on our community, fostering a narrative that stigmatizes and marginalizes us. Microaggressions, whether intentional or not, chip away at the dignity and confidence of Black individuals, perpetuating a cycle of discrimination and inequality. Terrel's experience is a stark reminder of the challenges we continue to face and the urgent need for change. We call on all community members—regardless of race or background—to stand up and speak out against these injustices. Together, we can stop this harmful narrative and create a more inclusive and respectful society. To new immigrants and Black folks: do not fall for this trap. Many have been brought down by reacting to provocation designed to paint them in a negative light. Stay strong, stay informed, and stay resilient. If you or someone you know is experiencing similar incidents, please reach out to us. Many of our staff and community members have been through this, and we are here to support and help you navigate these challenges. Let’s stand together and make a difference. #StopTheNarrative #EndMicroaggressions #SupportEachOther #CommunityStrength Coach John E. DANCE BREAK MIM so-when Public Enemy used the words They reminded us young Black men are People first, not criminals just because of phenotype or dress. Don’t Believe The Hype was a messsge to non law enforcement folks being fed lies about the "hard core maniac" Black kids, kids marginalized, kids seeking connection. The message was for Black kids- you are NOT what they say you are And For white supremacy believers. A form of “we see you.” Now, I think it’s about the GOP Lies. Watch and see how they begin to backpedal overtly- Oh no, OUR candidate LOVES women. To use To abuse To dominate and control To Salivate over( think Homer). No matter what Rs say about how the “leaders” like girls? Don’t believe the hype. Rs who do love women and girls as fully autonomous Hu, formed as planned, won’t vote R this round. #truth

"Anytime a marginalized group finds itself alone, without power, un-listened to, you can bet it has a song to sing." From civil rights anthems to protest songs, music has been a catalyst for change, a voice for the voiceless, and a rallying cry for movements. After watching "Louder: The Soundtrack to Change," this weekend, I am convinced that the connective tissue between music and the heart is ultimately what we in marketing strive for: music moves people to act. It makes people feel something. It connects people. The best marketing tells stories that resonate in our bones. It creates that same visceral response that makes us want to make a difference. Whether it's a powerful protest song or a compelling brand narrative, the fundamental truth remains: when we touch hearts, we move minds. We're not just marketers – we're storytellers with the power to amplify voices that need to be heard. I highly recommend watching ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g3Dp24T3 #Marketing #Activism #Storytelling #SocialChange #Leadership

These schoolhouse rock songs used to play with the commercials during shows as children in the 1970s I still have them memorized- I remember certain things word for word for some unknown reason. So as someone is trying to say something silly about the Constitution or how bills are written.. If I am blankly staring at you live know that I am humming in my head or remembering a book or concept word for word. Im just a bill Yes, I’m only a bill. And I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill. Well, it’s a long, long journey To the capital city. It’s a long, long wait While I’m sitting in committee, But I know I’ll be a law someday At least I hope and pray that I will, But today I am still just a bill. Or Hey, do you know about the USA? Do you know about the government? Can you tell me about the Constitution? Hey, learn about the USA ( some people need to watch Schoolhouse Rocks skip figure 8 or lolly lolly get your adverbs here go straight to "the Constitution" and "three-ring government" or "Im going to send your vote to"the electoral" college" ) It also explains that if you win by just a hair the state gives ALL their electoral college votes to the party that wins and that is why people think New York is all blue all the time You can credit School House Rocks and the Electoral College song for me figuring out that they let migrants in for the census and future Electoral College votes . After "some" watch these I can then show them what to read next but please catch up before you go on TV. #politics #elections #elections2024 #law #constitution #republic #democracy #republican #democrat #biden #trump #inspiration #education #money #sales #salestips #leadership #advertising #marketing #media https://lnkd.in/gR-TZVpG

Mujinga, M. (2024). Xenophobia, Afrophobia, or Promoting Xenophilia? Semantic Explorations of Violence and Criminality in South Africa. In The Palgrave Handbook of Violence in Africa (pp. 661-676). Cham: Springer Nature Switzerland. Abstract: Scholars from studies on migration and the secular history of South Africa argue that the country has a long history of violence. Apartheid, itself a violent concept and practice, generated violence across the social structures. During this period, brutality was enforced among the weak and defenseless black South Africans. However, since 2000 South Africa has seen another surge of violence targeting fellow Africans. The attacks on foreigners were attributed to limited resources, leading to poverty, unemployment, overpopulation, and poor service delivery argued to be necessitated by black immigrants’ presence. African immigrants were also accused of crimes and drug dealings. The attacks were in the form of beatings, displacements, killings, lootings, and destruction of foreign-owned shops and homes. Although national attacks were experienced mainly in 2008, 2015, 2019, and 2021, scholars continue to grapple to name the phenomenon. Academics, politicians, victims, victors, survivors, and civil society have given contrasting names to the attacks. Using the desk research methodology, the chapter analyses the terms used to describe these acts of violence. Although xenophobia and Afrophobia have dominated scholarship, the chapter argues that these terms are a disguise for criminal acts by some black South Africans. The chapter concludes that some South Africans have moved away from their constitution, which is all-inclusive, and from being victims of apartheid to political and economic victors, contrastingly turning into criminals. Moreover, some South Africans have lost the value of Ubuntu philosophy, leading the former victims to be both the victor and the criminal in the name of fighting for rights in the country that is rightfully theirs.

Barack Obama Condemns Political Violence, Wishes Trump Quick Recovery In a firm denouncement of political violence, former President Barack Obama has spoken out following an incident involving former President Donald Trump. Obama expressed relief that Trump was not seriously harmed and called for unity and respect in political discourse. The statement came after news broke of an incident which left former President Trump unhurt but prompted widespread concern about the state of political tensions in the country. Obama's remarks underscored a call for civility amidst increasingly polarized political landscapes. "There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy," Obama asserted in his statement. He emphasized the importance of respecting differences in political views while upholding civility and peaceful discourse as fundamental pillars of democracy. The former President extended his wishes for Trump's swift recovery, despite their political differences. The incident, details of which are still emerging, has sparked renewed discussions about the need for restraint and decorum in political rhetoric. Obama's statement is seen as a timely reminder of the responsibilities that accompany political speech, particularly in a democracy grappling with deep-seated divisions. Yesssss! Let's Talk About It—so true. The power of our individual dollars is immense, and until we, as Black people, truly recognize this power, we're missing out on a transformative opportunity. Our spending choices have the potential to catapult us forward—not just as individuals, but as a collective community, as families, and as churches. When we consciously circulate our dollars among Black-owned businesses, we are making a powerful statement of self-reliance and empowerment. This practice builds wealth within our community, creating more jobs, fostering innovation, and supporting the growth of businesses that reflect our values and needs. By prioritizing the circulation of our dollars within our own community, we lay the foundation for sustainable economic growth. This isn't just about spending money—it's about investing in our future, nurturing a cycle of success that uplifts everyone. Imagine the ripple effect: when we support a Black-owned business, that business, in turn, supports other businesses and employs people from our community. The result is a thriving, interconnected economy that strengthens our community from within. So, let's embrace this power. Let's be intentional with where we spend our money, recognizing that every dollar we spend has the potential to fuel progress, unity, and prosperity within our community. Together, we can build a future where our economic strength is a reflection of our collective commitment to each other's success. https://lnkd.in/eKApHTdA
