The #BBC has started to air the #Nightsleeper TV mini-series last week. It is about a train traveling from #Glasgow in #Scotland to #London in #England; and its passengers realize that it was #hacked and controlled by an unknown entity. Although this is a work of drama, I believe it is still realistic (I only watched the trailer, not the full show yet. I wish I could do that soon!). #Technology has dominated a lot of things including the #transportation vehicles. The more we rely on it, the more we will be the targets of #cyberattacks. What do you think? And there is another tricky question here. What will you do if you are on that train? 😉 https://lnkd.in/dvRaGxFd

Do you remember Speed with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves? The incredible two-hour thrill ride of 1994. Fast-forward (no pun intended 😊) 30 years and Britain has its own runaway transport thriller courtesy of the BBC, onboard a fictional sleeper train between Glasgow Central and London Euston Stations. This six-part thriller available in the UK and on iPlayer already, is one of the TV highlights of the year, updating the genre to fit the digital age and the threats posed to national infrastructure brought about by hostile actors. The series has great effects, excellent pace, culturally believable elements, which any British commuter gets immediately: in-jokes about trains not running on time, the fragmentation of the rail network thanks to privatisation, disability access issues on public transport, the political sleaze and coverups, corruption, public outrage and entitlement. It's all there to a greater or lesser degree. While there are main characters, this is very much an ensemble performance, acted with humanity, urgency, frayed tempers, and high tension. Every character has a role to play. The parallels with Speed are evident, and rather than viewing that as a negative, I'd say it's a massive accolade for director Jan de Bont's groundbreaking work. Being British and being made for TV serialisation, there is a gritty, dark, and multi-layered storyline in Nightsleeper, but the pace is spot on. At a time when people are switching off traditional TV and turning to streaming services, this BBC production straddles both worlds brilliantly and exceeds expectations. If you're in need of something gripping this autumn, you can't go wrong with Nightsleeper. #nightsleeper #tv #bbc #speed #runawaytrain #thriller

Fascinating listening to this description on The Rest Is Entertainment of the 'total collapse' of an industry. Comedians once would trek to the expensive-but-worth-a-gamble Edinburgh Fringe to be 'discovered' by TV productions, but no more. Because in turn the TV production industry has collapsed. Comedians are fine, BTW, with touring and social media providing more opportunities and money than before. For TV production professionals, not so much. https://lnkd.in/e3u8wnvJ

Unless you have actually walked this course, you will never grasp just how much elevation change there is on this hole (#10) at Augusta National. This view makes it seem much more exaggerated than the effect you see from the television cameras, but it still really doesn't show just how steep this hill is. As the broadcasters discussed today, this is the most difficult walking course on the tour, even though this is not a PGA Tour event. There is a LOT of up and down. www.shopklemmeart.com #golfprints, #golfart, #golfcoursephotography, #natureart, #naturephotography, #natureprints, #calmingart

The RAC is calling on the Government to investigate the issue with highlight glare. There's no doubt that the new car LEDs can be extremely bright. I would even agree that I have found myself temporarily blinded by some of the headlights, especially around the rural roads where visibility is already restricted. The RAC conducted a survey of 2000 drivers, which found that 7% of drivers avoid driving at night due to headlight glare. There have been reports of drivers being nearly involved in a collision due to the dazzling lights. The survey also revealed that glare forces drivers to significantly reduce their speed and increases the risk of incidents. What is the solution? ban LED headlights? Our Associate Amelia Feachnie recently joined Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)'s ABC Radio Brisbane presenter Steve Austin to help bust some common myths around carpark crashes. While fender benders and minor bingles are most common, it's not unusual to suffer injuries as a result of a low-speed crash in a carpark. Amelia, who is based at our Stones Corner office in Brisbane, also spoke of the importance of CCTV, which can play a crucial role in helping your case after a carpark crash, and the challenges that sometimes arise getting hold of the footage. #motorvehicle #crash #injury #rightwrong
