Which diet does the most to cut your carbon footprint? Keto, paleo, vegan: Our diets have a wide variety of climate impacts, with one almost four times more polluting than veganism. It may be unsurprising which kind of food consumption is best. A vegan diet, which means eating no food derived from animals, generates only 0.7 kg of carbon dioxide per 1,000 calories consumed. Since many people will switch dietary lanes throughout their lives - or need to swerve away from veganism for health reasons - it may be reassuring to understand how our diets are a spectrum when it comes to impacting the climate. https://zurl.co/pFaM

Traditional bread often includes animal products like milk, eggs, and honey, whereas vegan bread substitutes these with plant-based alternatives such as flour, yeast, water, vegetable oil, sugar, and salt, sometimes enhanced with soy milk, purees, nuts, seeds, or grains. Not only does vegan bread cater to diverse dietary needs, but it also aligns with ethical and environmental concerns, offering a sustainable choice for consumers. 🌱 Embracing a Plant-Forward Lifestyle 🌱 As January rolls in, many are diving into #Veganuary, committing to a fully vegan diet for the month. While I admire this dedication, it’s not quite my style. Instead, I’ve been gradually shifting towards a more plant-based diet over the years, reducing animal products and increasing plant-based foods. This approach feels more sustainable and aligned with my lifestyle. Personal Health Benefits: Incorporating more plant-based foods has been linked to numerous health advantages, including a reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes provides essential nutrients and fiber, promoting overall well-being. Environmental Impact: Adopting a plant-forward diet also benefits the environment. Studies suggest that increasing plant-based food consumption can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, land use, and water consumption, contributing to a more sustainable planet. Looking Ahead: Will I become fully vegan one day? Who knows? For now, focusing on increasing plant-based foods and reducing animal products feels like a balanced and achievable goal. Here’s to a healthier me and a healthier planet! 🌍💚 #PlantBased #SustainableEating #HealthAndEnvironment #FlexitarianJourney Some sources https://lnkd.in/eg27BhuG https://lnkd.in/eyCj_JW7 https://lnkd.in/eDBb4YTQ https://lnkd.in/eVzCB7yb https://lnkd.in/e3YzXnFw

With so many diet plans to choose from – vegetarian, vegan, Mediterranean – one may easily feel overwhelmed! At the same time, according to MedPage Today, the flexitarian diet stands out as the top plant-based diet for 2024. Curious why? The flexitarian diet, a semi-vegetarian approach, offers flexibility by combining plant-based eating with occasional meat or fish consumption. This plan emphasizes non-meat proteins like beans, peas, while allowing eggs and dairy and encouraging a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy, and various seasonings. To top it off, followers are advised to opt for the least processed, most natural foods and to limit sugar and sweets. Discover more: https://bit.ly/45frRmf #symrise #alwaysinspiringmore #flexitarian

Today is World Food Day 🌍🍽️ Food is one of the most basic human needs. At Fazer we see food as a solution and want to support people’s quest for healthier and more sustainable lifestyles. Various diets have been thoroughly examined to understand their advantages and drawbacks. Based on this comprehensive research, scientists have concluded that it is possible to create a diet that is both healthy and nutritionally sufficient for humans, while also being sustainable and respecting planetary limits. This is called a planetary diet. 🥬 The core of planetary diet is clear: we need to eat more plant-based food and to have less of an impact on the climate. The basis of the planetary diet is built on whole grain cereals, fruits and berries, vegetables and roots, nuts and legumes. 🌾🍎🥕🫛 In 2023 share of plant-based products in our offering was 45%. At Fazer we strongly invest in our plant-based strategy. We will continue to develop tasty, nutritious and sustainable plant-based drinks and cooking products, breads, snacks and smoothies, porridges, mueslis and cereals that bring people nourishment and well-being. Read more about our approach in the comments. In 2024 World Food Day’s theme is Right to foods for a better life and a better future. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) a United Nations agency, organises this special day to promote global food security and ensure that everyone has consistent access to sufficient, nutritious food for active and healthy living. 🍽️🌍 #worldfoodday2024 #plantbased #wholegrain #nutrition #wellbeing #sustainabilityatfazer #Northernmagicmadereal
