Have you heard of NBSAPs? National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAPs) are essential blueprints designed by countries to protect and restore their ecosystems and wildlife. Every country under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is required to create and implement one. We’re excited to share that Australia completed its NBSAP aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) and will be presenting it at the COP16 summit! Join us for 'Lunch & Learn: Insights into Biodiversity Net Gain' - a wonderful webinar hosted by IEMA Sussex & Surrey in collaboration with Surrey Wildlife Trust and the Sustainable Business Network! This 1-hour online event will take place on Tuesday 23 April from 12:00 - 13:00. From 12 February 2024, almost all developments are required to deliver a minimum of 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and maintain these habitats for over 30 years, with this requirement extending to small sites from 2 April 2024. Despite existing policy and legislation, the UK has seen a 13% decline in the average abundance of wildlife since the 1970s. BNG exists to ensure that nature does not lose out when land is developed. But - what does BNG mean in terms of best practice? How can it be used to maximise impact? Why is it important for all landowners to be aware of it? And, what are the pitfalls to avoid? One of the biggest interventions is encouraging indigenous flora. Different plant species provide varying levels of resources for wildlife. For instance, some provide more nectar, others provide shelter, while more still provide better food sources for certain insects or animals. Very important issue. The #design of #private_gardens is usually depends on the client's wishes and we can not argue about it.. But we must explain and educate the client why we should think in the direction of more and more natural design. I personally stopped working with private gardens over 5 years ago for the same reason. I worked in the professional landscape company, I liked that team, but unfortunately, the design we were "pushed" to provide at that time, often, was not making any difference, and argumentation оf our landscape team haven't had an influence ...The market worked like this. Unfortunately. Right now, sometimes, I have requests for private garden design and I'm starting the relationships with client from a mini-lecture regarding natural design and natural approaches🤭. Just to see іf we can be on the same wave. More and more people agree with it. But the majority don't. In my opinion, we should have more regulations regarding #NBS, even in private gardening area, because it is not a philosophy, or fancy approach no longer, it is a need. We operate in the nature, with natural resources and we need to take responsibility for it. #garden_design #landscape_architecture #nbs #natural_approaches
