Agency is vital for educators. It empowers us to make informed, intentional decisions that positively impact our teaching, our students, and our own well-being. This can lead to a sense of ownership and purpose in our roles, which impacts us and our learners. I recently presented on the role of agency in mentoring for educators. There are so many confines in our work that it can feel constraining at times. While accountability is essential in education, educators who exercise agency learn more, are more committed to and happier in their work more. Educators with agency are key drivers of transformation in education. They are more likely to advocate for equity, challenge outdated practices, and push for reforms that benefit students and the profession. Teacher agency is not just about individual empowerment—it can create a ripple that enhances educational practices, improves student experiences, and builds a stronger, more resilient education system. #agency #education #DanielPinkquotes #motivation #autonomy #choiceandvoice ##TeacherAgency #EmpoweredEducators #EducatorVoice #TeacherLeadership #TeacherAutonomy #TeacherGrowth #EducatorWellBeing #TeacherSupport #MentorEducators #TeachWithPurpose

It’s well-known that students should always come first in education, but a critical piece often overlooked is attending to the needs of the adults—teachers, staff, and administrators—who are essential in shaping the student experience. Ignoring the needs of these key players can undermine student success. I know because I learned the hard way as a novice leader. I didn’t see past what students needed, which created resistance from staff. After reflecting and collecting data, I quickly shifted my stance to prioritize my staff as long as it didn’t sacrifice students. Addressing adult needs is vital; you can do this effectively without compromising student outcomes. Adults matter. #SupportForTeachers #EmpoweredEducators #TeacherWellness #ProfessionalDevelopment #StudentSuccess #WholeSchoolWellbeing #LeadershipMatters #StrongerTogether #EducatorSupport #InvestInTeachers #WellbeingInSchools #ResilientEducators #TeachersFirst #BalancedSchools #EducationalLeadership

#Teachers and educational leaders may often hear complaints from parents and students but it's more rare for them to get specific positive feedback about lessons, classes, moments, or habits over time that have changed our children's lives for the better - though we know it happens all the time. In preparation for #TeacherAppreciationWeek, how can we as #parents begin to share stories in our families to learn about those transformational moments and share that feedback? That's how teachers know they are really making a difference. https://lnkd.in/gNuNP3jw

Why Schools Need a Makeover for The Innovators of Tomorrow! Why does the education system often stifle creativity and problem-solving instead of advancing innovation and independent thinking? In a world that celebrates these qualities, it's surprising that our schools reward obedience and conformity. Ana Lorena Fábrega's book, The Learning Game, challenges this status quo, making a solid case for why and how we must change how we approach education. This call for change should motivate and inspire us and remind us of our crucial role in advocating for a new, more effective approach to education. 📚 Discipline Starts at Home 📚 Unfortunately, well-behaved classrooms are no longer the norm lately. When I see a group of students who are disciplined and open to learning, I maximize their potential and push them to do their very best because I know I have their parents' support. As educators, we see firsthand how a child’s behavior impacts their learning and the learning of others. When a student is disruptive during instructional time, it often highlights a deeper need for consistency and structure—a foundation that starts at home. Our kids count on us, as both parents and educators, to provide two crucial things: consistency and structure. They need parents who say what they mean, mean what they say, and follow through with their actions. This is essential to developing respect, self-discipline, and accountability. Together, we can create environments that support every child’s growth. But this begins with setting clear boundaries and expectations at home, so children come to school ready to engage, learn, and thrive. #DisciplineStartsAtHome #ConsistencyAndStructure #BuildingStrongFoundations
