Growing up as an orphan, I often watched from a distance as other children received new clothes, shoes, toys, and gifts from their parents during the holiday season. Those moments, filled with joy and togetherness, emphasized my feelings of sadness and loneliness because I didn’t have parents to share those moments with, and it felt like a nightmare. Beyond the gifts, orphans need the basics clothes, shoes, and nourishing food to survive.
