Hi LinkedIn community, I wanted to share my recent experience with Wakefit regarding a mattress order I placed for my senior citizen parents. The process has been nothing short of a nightmare, highlighting concerning practices by the company. I reached out to both co-founders via email and received no response. I don't usually resort to this, but I am putting this out on LinkedIn to seek advice and raise awareness about this issue. Here's a brief timeline of events: - Order date: 12th June 2024 - Expected delivery date changed multiple times from 23rd June to 25th June, 29th June, and finally to 2nd July. - Despite raising complaints about the delays, customer service would only mention that the order was in shipping. - Frustrated with the delays, I ordered a mattress from Amazon on 2nd July and received it within 3 days. Kudos to Amazon! - Attempted to cancel the Wakefit order on 5th July. - Surprisingly, the order was marked as delivered on 6th July at 1:42 pm, claiming it was delivered on 4th July. - However, at around 4 PM on July 6, the delivery person called (with the call recorded on his phone) asking when to deliver the mattress. I informed him that I had already requested a cancellation. -- He called again, saying i need to record that you are refusing the delivery. - Wakefit acknowledged the cancellation request, stated the mattress wasn't delivered, and promised a refund upon return to the shipper (RTS). - Today, A month later, I was contacted by another customer service representative claiming the order was delivered, provided a so-called proof of delivery, which was merely a letter stating the delivery had been made. - Shockingly, I was advised to coordinate with the logistics partner for resolution. While the amount in question is much less than the time I have spent coordinating with them, I wonder what companies with such poor ethics would do to less fortunate customers. During my 13 years at UPS, I spent many holiday seasons delivering packages. Now, as e-commerce continues to boom, I find myself on the other side of the delivery experience with a deeper appreciation for these essential workers. Having walked in their shoes, I know a few things to be true: - These drivers are working incredibly long hours - They're missing time with their families during the holidays - They're doing physically demanding work in all weather conditions - Most importantly - they're human, doing their best in a challenging job Something I learned from my time on a package car: It's easy to forget there are real people behind every delivery. When things go wrong (and they will), remember that your driver usually has no control over packages not on their truck. That's why we keep this basket of refreshments on our porch. It's a small gesture, but I know firsthand how much a bit of kindness can brighten a long day of deliveries. To all delivery drivers out there working through another holiday season (you probably won't see this 😆 ): Thank you. Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. To everyone else: A smile, a thank you, or a small gesture of appreciation can make a world of difference to someone working long hours to ensure your holidays are special. Remember, kindness is free to give but valuable to receive. How are you showing appreciation for your delivery drivers this season? #DeliveryDrivers #Gratitude #HolidaySeason #CustomerService #WorkersAppreciation FedEx Amazon United States Postal Service

🔔 𝐀 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐜 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐦𝐚𝐧? An unexpected career twist that's sparking conversations. In a recent popular Chinese film, the main character, once a C-suite of the Internet industry, finds himself jobless due to corporate downsizing. Despite diligent searching for similar roles in IT, he is left wanting. Instead of giving up to life's pressures, he makes an abrupt detour in his career - becoming a deliveryman. So, why is a tech expert swapping codes for cartons a big deal? Geeks gonna geek, and he doesn't leave his tech-savvy behind. He crafts an app that upgrades delivery routes for couriers, positively impacting their work lives. The film addresses the impact of economic slumps on common folks while highlighting societal dilemmas. Yet, its most critical message is to question the traditional interpretation of success. The hero's journey showcases how skills nurtured over a career are versatile and can add value across industries. His tale serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of adaptability and resilience in challenging times. Let's ponder: How can we apply our skills in unanticipated ways? Are we prepared to redefine success? #CareerSwitch #TechToTakeaway #RedefineSuccess

Redundancies announced by Asda, HelloFresh, Homebase, BT Group, Post Office Ltd, weeks before Christmas 😢 Here's how you can help: 🎯 Create referrals 🎯 Send connections 🎯 Make introductions 🎯 Write recommendations 🎯 Comment on their content 🎯 Tag people who could be a link 🎯 Send a DM with support & advice (if they want it) The power of connection and network via LinkedIn is unmatched, in my opinion. And with the thousands joining the job market all at once, anything you can do is better than nothing. Unless it’s affirmations 😬 (soz but don’t come for me ✋🏽) Jobseekers are struggling to make ends meet and as nice it they are to hear, they can’t do much with “positive vibes". Mindset and attitude is key, but practical and actionable is invaluable. ♻️ Repost if you fancy pushing this out. Peoples Christmas depends on it 💕

I opened my front door at 1am this morning... Ready with my pin to collect my late-night meal that I ordered on Deliveroo... After giving the guy my pin, I realised something... 100% of my orders have been delivered by South Asian men... Yet the 8 out of 9 of Deliveroo's executive team look white... I find it disturbing that many tech companies have somehow managed to get an almost all-white executive team, yet almost all drivers/low-paid workers are from minoritised ethnic backgrounds who work through the night to keep the company going. I'm sure the exec team privately educates their kids. While the drivers barely see their kids due to night shifts. Am I the only one who's clocking this? If hiring processes 'don't see colour' then how come we end up with this time and time again? And, before you tell me, I know their CEO is of Asian heritage. This means jack all to me if the diversity of his team isn't equally represented across the company. #Diversity #TechIndustry #DeliveryServices #Equality #Inclusion #CorporateResponsibility

Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Order Delivery Issues Dear DoorDash Support Team, I hope this message finds you well, though I must express my frustration regarding a recent experience that has affected my ability to fulfill orders, ultimately impacting my pay and completion rate. On [insert date], while I was en route to pick up an order, I encountered a significant roadblock caused by local police activity. Despite my best efforts to navigate around the obstruction, I was unable to reach the restaurant in time to collect the order. This situation not only prevented me from successfully completing the delivery but also left me without compensation for my time and effort. As a dedicated Dasher, it is incredibly disheartening to see my completion rate negatively impacted due to circumstances beyond my control. I rely on DoorDash for my income, and situations like this undermine my ability to earn and maintain a positive standing within the platform. I am writing to formally request that DoorDash reviews this incident and provides clarity on how such situations will be handled in the future. Specifically, I would appreciate: Improved customer service communication regarding unexpected roadblocks or incidents that may impact deliveries. Compensation for the time and effort I invested in this order, despite not being able to complete it. Assurance that my completion rate will not be adversely affected by events outside my control. The delivery service we provide is a partnership, and I expect that DoorDash will support its Dashers in ensuring our efforts are recognized fairly. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution to this matter. Sincerely, Brehanna Solomon

The holidays are here, which means one thing: delivery roulette. Except Grubhub—no surprises, just deliveries. It seems as if there is exciting news in the FoodTech space every week. I recently posted about Instacart’s incredible “Caper Carts” and now this: 🚪 Grubhub just teamed up with Amazon Key to make third-party deliveries a breeze for residential buildings! When I worked at Postmates by Uber, securing the customer drop off was one of the biggest challenges. Missed deliveries, food left out in the open, and customer frustration were all too common and led to costly reimbursements and CS investigations. This partnership tackles exactly that. No more missed deliveries or food sitting out waiting for you to get home. Grubhub drivers now have secure access to drop your food off inside participating buildings, so your meal is safe and sound until you're ready to enjoy it. This is a smart move that combines convenience and security – taking a common pain point in food delivery and turning it into a seamless experience. I wish we had this in Europe. Since I have moved to France, I have spent countless hours trying to track down missing and stolen deliveries only to be told "it is not possible to find it". This leads me to wonder with such an obvious problem, why hasn't more been done to solve it? #FoodDelivery #Innovation #Grubhub #AmazonKey #SmartHomeTech

Blinkit: Feedback on Services and A Thought for Delivery Boy Safety 🌟 Today, I placed my Blinkit order, and once again, I admired the fun scratch card campaign—kudos for engaging your customers so creatively! However, I’d like to bring up two concerns: COD Issue: My payment mode was Cash on Delivery (COD), but the delivery executive didn’t have the cash to return the balance. This has happened twice now, and I hope Blinkit addresses this for smoother transactions. Safety for Delivery Personnel: While ordering, I noticed there’s an option to declare if there’s a pet at home. But what about pets in the locality? In our gully, there’s a stray dog that barks at every unknown person, including delivery boys. He isn’t anyone’s pet, yet he poses a potential safety risk for delivery personnel. I feel Blinkit (and other services like Zepto, Swiggy, Zomato) should consider this and provide a way for customers to alert delivery staff about such situations. 💡 A Simple Fix for a Big Difference: Ensure Delivery Partners Carry Change: Especially for COD orders. Add a “Pets in the Locality” Option: To help ensure the safety of delivery executives. While I’ve loved Blinkit’s services so far, I hope these suggestions are considered for improvement. Looking forward to seeing Zepto enter my city soon—healthy competition is always welcome! 😊 #CustomerExperience #Feedback #Blinkit #SafetyFirst #DeliveryBoyCare

Its raining cats & dogs in Delhi NCR, thanks to all water logging that made me decide not to leave my house. I happened to order Veggies from Amazon Fresh pantry due to low prices but the delivery slot was only after 2 days. Zepto, Blinkit and Swiggy deliver within 8-15 minutes (though the difference in pricing was Rs 17 extra per kg). The extra pricing didn't bother me but the delay did. Amazon Fresh - you need to up your game! Hire more delivery agents or you will really miss out on some good business to competition. This game is no longer on lowest pricing, rather fast delivery! #amazonfresh #lastmileconnectivity

Last week, Asda announced almost 500 redundancies, and HelloFresh closing site has 900 jobs at risk. That totals nearly 1500 people affected across just two companies, and with less than 45 days until Christmas, we can expect even more redundancies to come. It's important to remember that redundancy impacts families as well. We can ALL take action to help. If you come across someone #OpenToWork in your network: -Reach out and see how you can assist. -Introduce them to contacts in your network. -Write a testimonial highlighting their skills for potential hiring managers. -Share or comment on their posts to increase their visibility. #StrongerTogether P.S. Currently affected by redundancy myself, I’ve witnessed time and again how it can lead to even better opportunities.
