🎥 Quick Tip: Boost Your Footage’s Dynamic Range Struggling to balance highlights and shadows in your video? Dynamic range can make or break your shot, but there's a simple way to enhance it in post-production. Jonny Elwyn recommends diving into the Lumetri Color panel in Adobe Premiere Pro. By carefully adjusting the Highlights and Shadows sliders, you can pull out hidden details in both bright and dark areas, giving your footage a more polished, cinematic feel. This technique ensures your videos look professional without the risk of overexposing or underexposing. It's a small tweak that can have a big impact on your final product. So after being branded the Video Magician by May King Tsang I'd thought I'd share some more video tips for simple visual effects. This is one of the simple things that maybe everyone else picks up straight away, but took me a while to understand. While most people know you can add the transition effects to video clips, in Davinci Resolve at least, you can also apply them to the Text effects as well. Below is an example which is three Text effects with transitions between them (Circle Spin, Crash Zoom and Warp at the end). While there's a huge number of other ways to animate text, this one gives a really quick-to-achieve effect.

🎥 Hiawata!-Valley Boys 🎞 Joshua Evans ✂ Premiere Pro For my second assignment in the Post-production module we were tasked with editing a professionally filmed music video in our own styles. The main focus with the edit was to use Multicam editing, syncing up audio correctly with no delays or mistakes and including motion graphics. My aim for the music video was to make it feel like a TV show/ Video game, drawing inspiration from Little Big Planet and Get Squiggling. Overall I was pleased with how the video turned out and after the edit was completed I felt more confident with the different techniques used. #premierepro #musicvideo #motiongraphics #videoediting

MOST video editors think that knowing Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro is enough… ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!! They focus too much on fancy visuals, crazy transitions, animated text and cool VFX… BUT! What they miss is how powerful bg music can be! Music sets the “mood” of the video. It connects directly to the viewer’s emotion and lets them know what they need to feel. Here’s an example of me explaining it to one of my students:

The secret to pro-level videos?💡 Let's break it down👇 It’s not the camera; it’s the lighting. A few well-placed lights can turn a video from amateur to pro. Two tricks pros use: 1. Shadow side facing the camera. It adds depth, like in cinema. 2. Motivated lighting. It uses an actual light source (like a lamp or the sun) and makes it look natural. Let’s break it down: 1. No light → Blurry, low quality. 2. Living room light → Flat and dull. 3. Professional: Key light + window light = cinematic. How many lights do you think were used in the pro setup?
