What's the process for recycling mattresses and furniture? ♻️ Once your items arrive to one of our processing centers, everything is sorted, and we look for reusable items or items to donate. Donating items is the first step, since this achieves a 100% recycling rate. Our ground crew will then separate things by hand, and items will be shredded or baled depending on material. Mattresses and box springs are cut apart in order to collect all the raw materials, such as metal, wood, cotton, felt, polyurethane and fabric. These materials are then sent to other companies to be turned into new items and given a second life. Have any questions about how this works? Leave them in the comments below ⬇️

Day 21: Declutter and Donate Unused Materials #Eco30Impact Decluttering and donating unused materials is not just about tidying up physical spaces; it carries significant benefits for individuals, communities, and the environment. 1. Decluttering promotes a sense of mental clarity and reduces stress. Living in an organized environment can enhance productivity and focus by eliminating distractions caused by excess clutter. Clearing out unused items creates a more calming and inviting atmosphere at home or in the workplace. 2. Donating unused materials contributes to community well-being. Items that are no longer needed by one person can be incredibly valuable to others. By donating clothing, furniture, books, or other goods to charities, shelters, or thrift stores, you can directly support those in need and make a positive impact on their lives. 3. Decluttering and donating play a vital role in sustainable consumption. Instead of letting unused items accumulate and eventually end up in landfills, donating allows these items to be reused and repurposed, reducing waste and conserving valuable resources. This practice aligns with the principles of the circular economy, where materials are kept in use for as long as possible. 4. Decluttering can be financially beneficial. Selling or donating items that are no longer needed can generate extra income or potential tax deductions. This can be particularly helpful in freeing up funds for more meaningful expenditures or investments. In Large, decluttering and donating foster a sense of social responsibility. By actively participating in the reuse and recycling of materials, individuals contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly society. This collective effort helps address broader issues such as waste management and resource conservation.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 Did you know that around 11.3 million tons of textile waste end up in US landfills each year? This includes clothing, shoes, socks, pajamas, backpacks, & more — items that are discarded & never given a second chance. Many of these items are seasonal, clearance, store returns, or overstock products that could otherwise have been used. As a 1% for the Planet partner, we're committed to repurposing these essential items by working with businesses & retailers to redirect these items away from landfills & into the hands of foster youth who need them. Are you interested in donating products to help both people & the planet? Send us a message!
