Yes you read that well - Sun Tax! If citizens, in mass, produce so much energy (renewable) that you could give it away for free - why tax citizens for producing energy when normally you would pay a private sector company to do the same. Think about this for a second! For the past decades, governments have subsidized the price of oil and energy projects in order to own a business model that can be taxed - not much concern here about the environment. After convincing citizens to invest $30,000 of their own money to go green, produce energy, and give the excess energy for free, the #Australian government will be taxing (aka Sun Tax). We can produce energy for (almost) free, citizens are willing to absorb the cost but at the end of the day, all level of governments are looking to replace their tax on oil with a Sun-Tax on citizens that generate free energy. Energy company Solar Run director Anthony Kurta agrees the sun tax is “extremely unfair”. At least half of its customers want a battery to avoid the sun tax, he says. “I do understand that the value of excess solar reduces in daytime hours during summer and spring. What is not considered in the government proposal is the value of the excess solar during winter and autumn, which still has considerable value to the grid,” Kurta says. #australia #renewableenergy #sintax #suntax #solarpanel https://lnkd.in/dHexjQsq

More Australians are investing in batteries to avoid the so-called "sun tax", taking charge of their own power. It's true that the more we can shift our energy usage to the daytime, to soak up all of that solar energy, the better, but the burden of navigating these tariffs shouldn't fall on householders alone. Investment in network batteries, dynamic solar export limits, subsidies for home batteries, bidirectional EV charging and an energy market that puts households first are all essential for an efficient, equitable energy system. https://lnkd.in/g-5knqbf

Great points about the need for a more equitable energy system! It's encouraging to see more Australians investing in batteries and other energy-efficient solutions. The gap between the cost of upgrading homes or business premises and the savings made has significantly closed, making it a great time to consider these options. At PPM Finance, we're excited to offer discounted financing for energy-efficient upgrades. Whether you're looking to install solar panels and batteries, set up electric vehicle charging stations, upgrade to double-glazed windows, invest in energy-efficient air conditioning, or switch to solar hot water systems and induction cooktops, we have options to suit your needs. To explore how you can make these upgrades more affordable, book a call with me through this link: (https://lnkd.in/gD7bhwQK). Let's discuss how we can help you finance your upgrades to reduce your energy costs and contribute to a sustainable future!
