Yes you read that well - Sun Tax! If citizens, in mass, produce so much energy (renewable) that you could give it away for free - why tax citizens for producing energy when normally you would pay a private sector company to do the same. Think about this for a second! For the past decades, governments have subsidized the price of oil and energy projects in order to own a business model that can be taxed - not much concern here about the environment. After convincing citizens to invest $30,000 of their own money to go green, produce energy, and give the excess energy for free, the #Australian government will be taxing (aka Sun Tax). We can produce energy for (almost) free, citizens are willing to absorb the cost but at the end of the day, all level of governments are looking to replace their tax on oil with a Sun-Tax on citizens that generate free energy. Energy company Solar Run director Anthony Kurta agrees the sun tax is “extremely unfair”. At least half of its customers want a battery to avoid the sun tax, he says. “I do understand that the value of excess solar reduces in daytime hours during summer and spring. What is not considered in the government proposal is the value of the excess solar during winter and autumn, which still has considerable value to the grid,” Kurta says. #australia #renewableenergy #sintax #suntax #solarpanel https://lnkd.in/dHexjQsq
