[Recording available] 'Product Discovery: Speed vs Quality' We know that discovery shouldn't take a quarter BUT we also know asking 2 people their opinion isn't valuable either. So, how do you strike the balance? Last week Product Discovery coach and founder, Niko Noll and I sat down to talk about speed vs quality in product discovery. We covered: - How to do product discovery at speed whilst maintaining quality - How do you know when you're moving too fast or too slow - Common product discovery frameworks and tools - Where you should spend your time in discovery if you're time poor and more... Watch: https://lnkd.in/gwT2hCu2 p.s. follow Product Pathways to join future webinars like this - they're FREE!

A few weeks ago I went out with a call to action to all of you coming back from vacation to start fixing your R&D. My claim is threefold: (1) most companies are unclear what the value of their offering to customers actually entails, so they fall in the "worthwhile many" trap. (2) companies spend 70%-90% of their R&D resources on commodity functionality that no customer cares about as long as it works and it is possible to reduce that with at least half. (3) up to two-third of new functionality that gets built by companies is a waste of effort as customers never or hardly ever use it and we can use iterative and experimental approaches to fix that. In the talk that I gave in the spring at factor10's conference I go into much more detail. See below for a 20 second intro and the full talk. If you are ready to fix your R&D and stop believing that things are immutable, then reach out to me! I and a team of people around me are eager to help you to DOUBLE your R&D effectiveness! Twice as much business value per unit of R&D! Who doesn't want that?
We asked Jan Bosch, one of eight world-class speakers at #myConf 2024, why you should watch his talk. Here's what he said. ☟ In his talk, "Stop wasting your R&D budget! Start modeling value and experiment!" Jan discussed how wasteful current practices around product management and R&D are and presented an alternative approach. If you missed it, you can watch the full talk here: https://lnkd.in/d6HYspZh

Ant Murphy is one of our local product thinkers in AU/NZ, and it was great to hear his thoughts on 'Setting clear product outcomes for effective discovery' talk as part of Vistaly's event with Steve Klein. Check out more of his thoughts on www.productpathways.com Here are my top three takeaways on doing what you do normally, but slightly differently 💡

Can extreme constraints, like Grant Slatton's ideas around deleting unfinished work, break teams out of cognitive biases and help them think of radically different solutions? Jeffrey Fredrick and I dive into this, bringing in concepts from Toyota Kata and Daniel Kahneman's 'Thinking, Fast and Slow.' H/T as always to Mike Rother and his great work around Toyota Kata. https://lnkd.in/eTjuufhr

Who's getting excited for Q4 😅 ? While it can be notoriously stressful, Q4 is also the perfect time to reflect and reset for the future. Visiontypes—prototypes that visualize the future—are powerful tools to inspire teams and unite them around what's next. Watch the replay of this fireside chat with Silicon Valley Product Group's Marty Cagan and DesignMap Partner Audrey Crane. You'll learn how visiontypes (and a clear product vision) can inspire alignment and set your organization on a more purposeful path forward. https://lnkd.in/edVhj2TQ
