Day 221: Reaching New Heights in Business and Life ⛰️ Today, I climbed to the top of Castelmola in Sicily—a steep and brutal ascent that required several stops along the way. The climb was challenging, but it reminded me so much of my journey in business over the last 10 years. Just like the climb, there have been countless moments in my business when I wanted to exit, to quit, when the challenges felt too overwhelming. But every time I paused, I gathered my strength, refocused, and pushed on. 💪 The view from the top? Absolutely worth every bit of the struggle. This climb is a metaphor for business and life—it’s not always easy, and the path is often steep and full of obstacles. But with persistence, resilience, and the determination to keep moving forward, you can reach heights you never imagined possible. 🚀 So, to all the entrepreneurs, business leaders, and dreamers out there: Keep climbing. Alrighty gang, I just ran to the top of this mountain here in Sicily. We got gorgeous *****. Wow, it was absolutely brutal. Hey, man, times I wanted to stop. Actually, they found times I did stop on the way up. I was, yeah, it's not something I would normally do, but this is like literally just completely steep. There's probably an easier way to run on the road or something. But of course I want to take the challenging challenger route. And on the way up I thought to myself. This reminds me of the last 10 years in business and beyond, you know, in life in general and. It makes you realize that I could have easily stopped, I could have easily turned around, I could have easily gone back down. But no, when you when you face challenges, you know, wanna overcome them. When you come up against hurdles or obstacles, you wanna overcome them. And I guess there's a really good analogy in life and in business. And when you have challenges like this and you're running up a steep hill, you'll see these little roads over here. Like that's literally roads that cars drive up is how steep it is. But look when you get to the top of the mountain, when you get to the top of. The challenge that you're on when you get to overcome what you're currently facing. Glass that's absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful sunrise in the background. I head out at 5:00 AM this morning. It's now 6. And you know, it was pitch black when I started and there is no one, I have not seen a person on the on the route the whole way. Maybe maybe because they're all, you know, having a good sleep in because they don't go, don't go to bed till midnight. But it's just absolutely gorgeous here. And I just wanted to, yeah, throw that thought out there, which was around. Life in general and in business, and this is not just a man, this is like everyone, every single person in the entire planet goes for this. They go through challenges, they go through ups and downs. And the only way to overcome those ups and downs is to push through the barriers, to push through your fears, to overcome. You know, the challenges that you're currently on. And I think it's just, you know, there's always light at the end of the tunnel and there's always an amazing view like this, whether that's, you know, you've achieved something amazing in life, in business. And he said, for sure, those batteries. And that's the analogy I was going through my head on my apple was like, holy **** this is odd. I couldn't give a breath. I couldn't couldn't stay focused, but I did. I pushed through and and now I get to relax and enjoy this and then get to have a really nice relaxing. Stroll down the hill. Alright guys, Thank you. I love this post Lucas. There can't be to many business owners who haven't (on multiple occasions) asked themselves "why the *@%& am I putting myself through this". Just like you on the run up that mountain. But eventually, be it for your sunset in the background, your first year of profit, new clients beating your door down or just simply having a sound night's sleep night after night, the reason why you have chosen the hard, less travelled road pays off. Hillary initially failed in his first few attempts to summit Everest, and the harsh realities of mountaineering almost led him to give up. Never underestimate the impact of showing gratitude. It’s not just good manners; it’s good business... And last night, at Bar Azita, in Harpenden, we were able to do just that! Alongside my fellow founders Tony Fields and Michelle Stacey (we missed you Anna Peck!), I had the pleasure of dining out with Judie Caunce and Fiona O'Donoghue to say a heartfelt 'thank you' for the indispensable roles they played in making The Hertfordshire Business Growth Show in March a roaring success. We shared laughter, dissected the past event and brainstormed exciting plans for next year too. More importantly, we celebrated the spirit of collaboration that defines our core team. People who give their time and expertise to help and support other business owners. Why am I sharing this? Because as business owners, it's crucial we recognise that our success isn't a solo journey. It's shaped by the dedication of every person who touches our projects. Saying 'thank you' might seem simple, but it holds the power to affirm, motivate, and foster strong relationships within your team. If you appreciate someone, don't ever keep it a secret! If you want something, make it happen! It’s been a journey, and after a few years of navigating the unknown, it’s finally all coming together. The interest in GAIA has completely blown me away. Every single interaction fills me with gratitude, and it’s humbling to see how much this has resonated. I remember wondering how successful entrepreneurs made it all happen. How do people buy into an idea when it’s just one person behind it? Yet here we are, and people are signing up to GAIA because they believe in its purpose and vision. It feels surreal. Now, I’m already looking to scale with partners and expand into new markets. I’m even having conversations about franchising (I might be jumping the gun here, but it’s happening!). And what does it enable? More time for me to do the things I love—not only working on something I’m passionate about but also enjoying more downtime.
