The Retail Industry Must Do Better As the Co-Founder of a retail recruiting company dedicated to the backbone of our industry—those who run our stores and connect with customers daily—I understand the frustration candidates face. However, hearing stories like the one below leaves me at a loss for words. I am acutely aware of which brands are treating candidates with an unimaginable level of disrespect, and I assure you, these are the brands I will never work with. I'll omit the names to protect the guilty, but this is just one example of what I hear daily: "In May, I applied for a Store Manager position and promptly received an interview invitation from the Head of HR. The process involved multiple reschedules before our initial meeting took place at the end of the month. After a 30-minute interview, I progressed to the next round and sent a thank you note. It's not a great start, but it's forgivable. Subsequent rounds demanded extensive preparation, including a detailed PowerPoint presentation and a comprehensive training plan. Despite a tight schedule, I conducted several two-hour interviews with senior leaders. They gave positive feedback and arranged further interviews. After additional rescheduling, I was subjected to rigorous interviews with various department heads, addressing both operational and strategic questions. One senior leader remarked, "I come from operations and have no idea what I am doing in retail. I am glad we will have you here to oversee things," and mentioned, "To be honest, the first stores failed because most of the team had never worked in retail and didn’t know how to deal with Covid." Despite their excitement for my potential start and assurances of imminent offers, I received this: "Based on the conversations and after connecting with the team, we've ultimately decided not to move you forward for the Store Manager role." Do better. Interviews are an opportunity to create an experience that sets the stage for how you want your customers to experience the brand. It's not a chance to collect information, ask for projects, or get what you need to learn, only to turn candidates down afterward. 🎤 passing the mic

(People often bypass how pivotal and significant the role of a Insurance Specialist /BDM is to them, we’re the ones who identify and mitigate risks. So with that being said don’t short change us on the salaries please) What am I looking for in my next employer; Easy; > Transparency > Autonomy > Trust Why you should hire me! > You’ll struggle to find someone more knowledgeable, dedicated and passionate about Insurance planning than me on the market! > An excellent brand ambassador who excels at employer branding and personal marketing initiatives > I’ve led sales teams of 6+ and all were established in their targetted market. > I speak beginner/intermediate Mandarin. > I bring cities to the office and always get the first round in at the bar for after work drinks!
