Today marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD) as designated by the United Nations. At Lucid, our commitment to accessibility is reflected in the transformative work we do with clients to improve patients' lives; alongside the inclusive culture we foster within our workplace. Sally Cordon-Painter shares what this means to her: "International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an important moment for us all to reflect on how we are consciously inclusive of others. Supporting people to lean into their strengths and understanding how and where they thrive is a big part of my role, and being an inclusivity ally means recognizing the unique individuals around me and empowering them to grow and succeed. I am passionate about ensuring that we have a culture of accessibility for everybody at Lucid, and advocating for everyone to bring their whole selves to work every day." #accessibility #IDPWD

At the Learning Enrichment Foundation, we encourage discovering potential. The Ability Work Experience program is just one way we help connect individuals with disabilities to meaningful employment in the workforce. #Accessibility is the design of products, devices, services, vehicles, or environments so as to be usable by people with disabilities. The key here being creating inclusive experience for all. #Ableism – the belief that people with disabilities are less valuable or less important than people who are not disabled – is incredibly common. Because ableism is common in our culture, people often hold ableist beliefs without realizing it. Take this quiz to learn more about ableist thinking. https://lnkd.in/gzyqCne7 #dei #accessibilityforall

3rd International Day of Persons with Disabilities (#IDPWD United Nations) Today, we want to highlight the importance of creating accessible and inclusive spaces for all. As part of the InclusiveSpaces HORIZON project, we conducted a drawing exercise with individuals experiencing various mobility impairments, including older adults, caregivers, people with infants, as well as individuals with physical, cognitive, and visual disabilities. The exercise aimed to identify factors associated with (dis-)comfort in urban mobility. The persons were asked to draw and explain situations they face while being mobile in the city. By understanding these variables, we can better assess #accessibility and address the challenges that many people face in navigating cities. These insights are key to designing spaces that truly meet diverse needs. Inclusion requires action—let’s work towards environments that enable equal participation and mobility for everyone. You want to exchange with us on the topic? Reach out to Lea S. Z., David Duran Rodas, and Benjamin Büttner for details. 🖼️ Drawings by people with physical impairments located in European countries.

What are the obstacles faced by people with disabilities in the workplace? Despite the existence of laws supporting their rights, many companies still encounter challenges in providing equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Some of the most prominent obstacles include: 1️⃣ Many companies may hold negative perceptions about people with disabilities, which can reduce their chances of employment. 2️⃣ Some workplaces do not provide the necessary accommodations, such as accessible entrances or suitably equipped workspaces for people with disabilities, making it difficult for them to perform their tasks. 3️⃣ Companies may lack training programmes for staff on how to interact with people with disabilities, leading to a non-inclusive environment. 4️⃣ A lack of assistive tools, such as speech software or specialised devices, may hinder the ability of people with disabilities to perform their tasks effectively. If companies work to provide a supportive and equal environment for everyone, they can overcome these obstacles. In this way, better opportunities can be achieved for all, fostering a more inclusive and successful workplace. #Inclusion #Equality #Accessibility #Empowerment #Diversity #companies #Opportunity #Integration #Support #Equity #Enablement #workplace

When it comes to people with disabilities, I feel like in life before there was no in between or Gray area. People understand when someone is physically disabled and have severe disabilities. I feel like there are people in life don’t understand when a person has a disability, but he or she can perform and do their jobs and duties and responsibilities like a person without a disability of any kind. Why can’t people in life understand all kinds of people with certain degrees of disabilities?

Today, December 3rd, marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 🌍♿. This photo captures a cherished moment with my wife and daughter 👨👩👧, both of whom live with disabilities that I support as a dedicated spouse and parent 💖. Despite the recent challenges in the tech industry 💻, my passion for this field and AWS remains strong, fueled by the brilliant minds that drive innovation 💡. I'm inspired by the potential of technology to one day contribute to finding cures for their conditions 🔬. I chose this image for two reasons: it represents our most recent joyful family memory 📸, and it showcases WWE's commitment to inclusivity, particularly their support for fans with disabilities 🤼♂️🎭. This blend of personal experience and professional hope reminds me why I continue to embrace the tech world and its transformative potential 🚀. This UN-established observance reminds us of the importance of inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment for individuals with disabilities in all aspects of society 🌈🤝. At Amazon, we're committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace that values the unique perspectives of all individuals, including those with disabilities 🏢👥. Our leadership, like Zeshan Hussain, encourages everyone to reflect on how we can create more inclusive environments, both within our organization and our communities 🤔💭. Let's work together to break down barriers, promote equal opportunities, and build a world where persons with disabilities are fully empowered and integrated into all aspects of life 🌟🌍. #IDPD2024 #Inclusion #Accessibility 🏷️

As a leader, I understand the importance of truly meeting people with disabilities where they are. It's not just about making accommodations—it's about actively learning how best to communicate so that we can work together. By being aware and proactive, we can create an environment that not only supports our team, but also strengthens our connections with clients. Accessibility isn’t just a compliance requirement; it’s a commitment to unlocking the full potential of diverse talents. I’m dedicated to leading by example and helping our team members understand what it means to learn how to best communicate with those who have disabilities. Have you encountered a situation where you or a team member has had to better understand how to communicate with a co-worker or client? If so, how did you help? #InclusiveLeadership #DisabilitySupport #WorkplaceAccessibility
