Peace is not just the absence of war. For peace to exist, there needs to be a commitment to peace, and the context for peace where life, humanity and equality are revered. If we do not have a context for peace, if we dehumanise sections of society, if we revere the rich and deride the poor, if we amplify indignity and prevent participation from the whole human family, then peace cannot exist. Peace will never exist when the weapons of war make some people extremely rich. The incentive for war is too great when profit off killingry is sanctioned. Peace asks us to create equality across different castes and ethnicities; it asks us to ensure that our human-constructed national borders do not tip inequality in one direction or the other. Dynamic healthy reciprocity is crucial to peace. When there is more take and less give, the scales tip towards war. Peace lives when there is a healthy place for disagreement, difference, and diversity. A genuine cry for peace without changing the context in which peace can exist is naive. https://lnkd.in/gQuYRWZi #beautyofbeginnings #syntropicworld #syntropicenterprise

Acts 14 describes to us Paul’s example of the mission of the church, what missions is about, and what missionaries do. From his model of missions we can draw a three-legged stool of mission work. Today we take a moment to reflect on the profound sacrifices made by millions during World War II. On this occasion of remembrance and reconciliation, we pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the pursuit of freedom, justice, and peace. Seventy years have passed since the guns fell silent, but the reverberations of war still linger in our hearts and minds. We remember the soldiers who valiantly fought on the battlefields, the civilians who endured unimaginable hardships, and the families torn apart by the ravages of conflict. In acknowledging the ongoing struggles that people face daily, such as poverty, inequality, and mental health issues, we must broaden our commemoration. The battles of World War II resulted in countless innocent victims, including women and children who were left to support their families in the absence of husbands and fathers, facing economic hardship and social upheaval. Children, too, bore the scars of war, their innocence shattered by violence and displacement, often enduring lifelong trauma. Over the last 35 years, CSVR has worked tirelessly in our efforts to strive towards peaceful, equal, and violence-free societies. This underscores the importance of addressing not only historical conflicts but also the contemporary challenges that threaten peace and human well-being. Let's work to ensure that the horrors of war never resurface and that the ideals they fought for—freedom, democracy, and human dignity—endure for generations to come. #CSVR35 #TimeOfRemembranceAndReconciliation #PeacefulSocieties

The closest many will get to understanding the carnage and sacrifice of the D-Day Landings 80 years ago today will be through watching films like Saving Private Ryan or visiting museums. Over 4000 allied forces lost their lives on 6 June 1944 to help defeat the Nazi ideology 80 years ago, so that today we can enjoy the freedoms we have, and too often take for granted. It is our duty to protect the freedoms we have and never forget those that laid down their lives in 1944 and throughout two World Wars. It is duty too to also educate our children and future generations to commemorate days like today. Find articles like the one below with facts about D-Day they can read to understand the sacrifices. But most of all we must also say never again to global wars and to dictators no matter what flag they fly and their cause https://lnkd.in/du6ZjQWv #dday80 #neverforget #sacrifice #operationoverlord #educate #neveragain
