The wage gap isn't just a number – it's a barrier to economic security and a driver of poverty. In Canada, poverty rates are alarmingly on the rise. ❌ In 2022, poverty increased for the second consecutive year, with an estimated 3.8 million Canadians living below the poverty line. ❌ This means more families struggling to afford basic necessities like housing and food. We need to break down these barriers by: Fighting for equal pay for equal work. Supporting policies that address systemic inequalities. Advocating for a living wage for all. Let's work together to build a more equitable and just society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. What role are you playing in your organizational to bring down the wage gap.let us know in the comments

From having one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country for 12 months in a row to seeing one of the steepest drop in violent crime in the entire country, we're getting big things done as a state.

The fortunes of the five richest men have shot up by 114% since 2020. Meanwhile, people worldwide are working harder and longer hours, often for poverty wages in precarious and unsafe jobs. The wages of nearly 800 million workers have failed to keep up with inflation and they have lost $1.5 trillion over the last two years. It's time for public power to rein in runaway corporate power and inequality. #InequalityInc #FightInequality #TaxTheRich #springmeetings https://oxf.am/48P6ubY

Global wages on the rise - but not for everyone - as the cost of living crisis continues to affect vulnerable workers. The just released Global Wage Report 2024-25 by the International Labour Organization (ILO) paints a mixed picture. While global wages are on the rise, the reality for many workers is far from positive. The cost of living crisis continues to affect the buying power of vulnerable workers. Deep inequalities persist across industries and regions. At CNV Internationaal, we are working hard to address these issues. Together with local unions, we are collecting critical data with our Fair Work Monitor to support national wage negotiations and collective bargaining, advocating for fair wages and better working conditions. At the same time, we recognize that solutions go beyond national efforts. What we need is a systemic approach within global supply chains. This means paying fairer prices and improving purchasing practices to ensure workers are not left behind. The time to act is now. Better wages and fairer supply chains are essential for a more equitable global economy. #GlobalWages #WageInequality #FairWork #LivingWages #TextileWorkers #SupplyChains #FairEconomy #SocialJustice #LaborRights #ILO #CNVl #WorkersRights #CollectiveBargaining #FairPrices #CostOfLivingCrisis
