Most people are wasting their points. But you don’t have to be one of them. Here's how to make your points worth 2-3x more: 1. Stop transferring all your points to Delta. 2. Stop redeeming directly through the portal. Here’s what you should do: Learn which airlines miles transfer from your credit card. Transfer points strategically to get better value. For example: Transfer your points to Virgin Atlantic for Delta flights, British Airways for American Airlines and Alaskan or Air Canada Aeroplan for United flights. With a little effort, your points can take you further than you think. It's a lot more complex than this but I made a table to help.

End of day 1 at Farnborough airshow #FIA2024. Great meeting old friends and making new connections. Execs still talking of good times and demand exceeding 2019. In contrast, Ryanair reporting a 15% drop in average fares with “pricing continuing to deteriorate”, Air Canada reporting overcapacity and a drop in pricing power while forecasting a 42% drop in operating income, and United reporting pressure on yields and a need to trim capacity from mid-august (still in the summer peak), amongst negative outlooks from other major carriers around the US and Europe. As I commented in an interview article in October 2023, the party is likely to be over by mid 2024. That forecast seems to be playing out as predicted. #RYANAIR, #AIRCANADA, #UNITED Mark Pilling Graham Dunn Edward Russell Max Kingsley-Jones FlightGlobal Airline Business Skift Aviation International News Aviation Week Network AirlineReporter Airfinance Journal Reuters BBC News Bloomberg News CNBC Financial Times CNN WirtschaftsWoche Handelsblatt

American Airlines plans to reduce its transatlantic services this winter. Starting October 27, 2024, the airline will stop operating its third daily roundtrip flight between Los Angeles and London Heathrow and suspend the #Phoenix to #London route until March 28, 2025. The goal of these adjustments is to maintain a balance between supply and demand, particularly in wintertime when there is less travel. The modifications also refer to possible reallocations within the fleet, like the refurbishment of Boeing 777-300ERs. This planned action is a reflection of American Airlines’ dedication to strengthening its worldwide network and the dynamic patterns of international aviation. #americanairlines #aviationnews #Boeing777

✈️ How many U.S. airlines do you think serve all 50 states? 🌎 Take a guess! You might think Hawaii or Alaska are the tricky ones, right? Well, not so much! Even Southwest flies to Hawaii these days. 🏝️ The real surprise? As of yesterday, only one airline serves all 50 U.S. states—and that’s American Airlines! 🇺🇸 But there’s a catch: it’s not entirely by air. American now offers an airside bus service to Delaware's Wilmington New Castle Airport from nearby Philadelphia. So technically, they cover all states, but no airline flies to all 50 just yet. ✈️ 🚌 By the way, Avelo Airlines is the only airline actually flying scheduled into Wilmington New Castle right now. Were you surprised by this? 🤔 And which other airlines do you know that serve every region of a country? Sure, Australia has fewer states—easy. But what about Canada? 🇨🇦 Let’s hear your thoughts! #Aviation #Airlines #US

Here is all the evidence you need for those of us that have always preferred the early morning flights... "Flights that take off in the early evening are nearly three times as likely to be significantly delayed as those in the early morning." "If you want to minimize lateness, it’s more important to consider departure time than airline. It’s true that Spirit Airlines has had more long delays than Delta Air Lines over the last five years, but a flight on Spirit that departs at 6 a.m. is less likely to be significantly delayed than a flight on Delta that takes off in the evening." United Airlines is the leading carrier (by available seats) for flights between Europe and the US this summer (July 2024), according to AIR SERVICE ONE analysis of Cirium schedules data. Pre-pandemic that honour fell to Delta Air Lines. Overall, versus July 2019, total seats across all carriers are up 5.5% with the number of flights up 8.8% highlighting the trend towards smaller aircraft. Norse Atlantic Airways and JetBlue have both entered the market in the Top 20 while Norwegian, which ranked sixth in 2019 has vacated the long-haul market. We have also 'lost' Thomas Cook Airlines and Aeroflot. Another new carrier, PLAY airlines ranks 26th. Impressive growth from Turkish Airlines and Condor Flugdienst GmbH while Lufthansa and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines are still at less than 95% of pre-pandemic capacity.
