It emphasizes the importance of technical skills, unbiased testing, and maintaining consistent operations. The key benefits of ISO/IEC 17025 include enhanced credibility, as it strengthens trust in laboratory results, and global acceptance, which facilitates international trade by recognizing test reports across borders. Additionally, it promotes quality assurance by encouraging robust quality management systems. The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization has announced the release of a draft for executive regulations aimed at enhancing product safety in the Kingdom. Published on the organization’s survey platform, the proposed regulations seek to establish clear guidelines to protect consumers from potential risks associated with products available in Saudi markets. The Authority invites public feedback and has set October 31, 2024, as the deadline for participation in the survey. I’ve recently attended an intensive Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) course with Eng. Mamdouh Motea Youssef at ENPPI training center in Alexandria. Through this extensive course I gained hands-on experience with three powerful methodologies: • Fishbone (Ishikawa) Method: A structured approach to identifying root causes by breaking down issues into categories like People, Process, Equipment, and Materials. • Apollo Root Cause Analysis: A cause-and-effect-based method focused on logical thinking and collaboration to uncover underlying issues. • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA): Conducted in alignment with IMCA Guidelines (IMCA M 166), ensuring a comprehensive, risk-based approach to identifying failure modes, assessing their effects, and implementing controls. These guidelines emphasize a systematic and proactive way to manage risks effectively, particularly in high-stakes industries like offshore and marine operations which I face on daily basis to meet with PMS’s standards of operations. This course has significantly enhanced my ability to: ✅ Identify and address the root causes of complex problems, ✅ Foster collaboration and systematic thinking, ✅ Drive sustainable improvements in processes and systems. ✅ Learn the methodolgy behind effective failures’ analysis and how to br creative through this process.
