This week, we come together to celebrate National Sports Day, a time dedicated to recognizing the immense value of sports in our lives. 🚴🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️ Engaging in regular physical activity is not just about staying fit; it's about fostering a healthier lifestyle, both physically and mentally. Sports offer an opportunity to build strength, resilience, and a sense of community, all while contributing to our overall well-being. 🌟 However, maintaining good health extends beyond just physical activity. A balanced diet and sufficient sleep are equally crucial in ensuring our bodies and minds are in peak condition. Proper nutrition provides the fuel needed for daily activities and recovery, while quality sleep allows our bodies to repair and recharge. 🍱😴 As we honor the spirit of National Sports Day, let's commit to incorporating regular exercise, nutritious eating, and adequate rest into our daily routines. Together, these elements create a foundation for a healthier, more vibrant life.🤸🏻🪷 #NationalSportsDay #Nutritionandwellbeing #Sleepandrecovery #luluble #cosmeticproductdevelopment #researchanddevelopment #beautylovers #cosmeticscience #innovation #womanownedbusiness Visit our website! luluble.com.br

There’s always room to elevate, even for the elite. Late last year, at the start of AFL pre-season, an experienced athlete—12+ years in, with over 200 games under his belt—reached out. On the surface, he was doing about 80% of things right. After that much time at the top, you know what works for you. But he was looking to leave no stone unturned. I had previously worked with a teammate of his the year before, who spoke highly of my approach. So he was open to trying something new—anything to gain a competitive edge at this stage of his career. Naturally, that imposter syndrome crept in: how much could I really help someone so seasoned? But over the year, we refined his approach. We focused on moving the needle by: → Optimising his pre-season nutrition and supplementation to enhance training → Managing intake vs. body composition with a focus on energy and recovery during the season → Adjustments to his game-day preparation I challenged some of his long-held beliefs, asking him to trust the process and try things differently. Key shifts included: → Increasing protein intake at breakfast and snacks far beyond what he was used to → Focusing on energy, appetite, and performance over body composition → Optimising his sleep routine and sleep stack → Avoiding fasting on rest days within 48-72 hours either side of main training or games → Incorporating higher carbohydrate meals the night before key sessions → Adding additional pre-game nutrition and additional ergogenic aids and recovery supplements Even coming from a strong base, there was room to enhance. While he felt an immediate boost to his energy and recovery in pre-season, the impact of this consistent, tailored, and optimised approach has snowballed over the year. This is a reminder that no matter how well an elite athlete, executive, or entrepreneur is performing, there’s always potential to elevate—even if you're doing 80% right (and if it’s much less, the opportunity is even greater!). Looking forward to seeing him and his team line up this Saturday in Melbourne. P.S. Who do you think will come out on top this Saturday at the MCG? #PerformanceDietitian #HumanPerformance #HighPerformance #EliteSport

Sporting Excitement With the opening ceremony tonight and some events already underway, it’s on TV and in the news – the pinnacle of sporting events, The Olympics is here. Sitting down is one of the most health damaging thing we do but to the detriment of my own fitness, I’ll probably watch quite a lot of it! Gymnastics, athletics, team sports. So much to choose from. Lots of archery since it’s my own sport, even though it’s target archery. I competed mainly in field archery which isn’t in the Olympics. It’s a shame because field archery is almost exactly like golf and I think much more fun to do and interesting to watch. We’ll enjoy seeing people at their physical peak performing astounding feats of strength, speed and skill. Behind this are the years and years of gruelling training and competition and great cost to social lives, careers and families. I doubt we’ll hear about what they’ve been eating and the assumption will be that they’re in great shape all because of exercise. So what do athletes eat nowadays? When I represented Great Britain, we were told to eat the carb-heavy, low-fat diet that led to my 10 years of misery. I was over-weight, always hungry, tired all the time, suffered mood swings, dizzy spells, frequent illness, athlete’s foot, bad skin…….. We were encouraged to use sports drinks full of sugar. When we went to the National Sports Centre at Lilleshall, there were large dispensers for breakfast cereal and piles of bread. I suspect this approach contributed to Steve Redgrave (one of my all-time sporting heroes), developing diabetes. I hope things have moved on but good nutritional knowledge has always been available and sadly it had been corrupted by vested interests. We can learn a lot from the excellent recent Channel 5 documentary ‘London ‘48 How Britain Saved the Olympics’ The British athletes were weedy and sickly from rationing. Only one egg a week, little meat or fat, one ounce of cheese... The American athletes had food all through the war and had beef flown into Britain during the event. In a league of their own, they looked amazing - muscular, fit and energetic, they won by far the most medals. It’s a graphic illustration of the difference good food makes. The big sponsors are the usual suspects and there’s a petition to end Coca-cola’s involvement. The love of money means that every 4 years the high ideals of the Olympiad are brushed aside and people’s health trashed. The positive association with the fittest in the world increases sales and damages lives – especially young lives. It needs to stop. https://lnkd.in/eBYHg4Cx During my 17 years in Nutrition Coaching I’ve seen client after client transformed by caring for their bodies with proper nutrition. You don’t need to be a sporting great. You’ll benefit from good food whatever you do. Enjoy a more vibrantly healthy life – learn to eat well. Top tip: Sport participant or spectator – always eat well! #healthyeating #learntoeatwell

So I’ve started a wellness experiment… Losing inches and lbs in midlife is difficult enough, but when you add in the impact of comfort eating/drinking sugar in just about every form possible post-bereavements & other life challenges this year, nothing was working to shift things as my measurements and weight skyrocketed. I heard about an app called MeThreeSixty from our GLP-1 activated weight loss group in the States and gave it a go… My body fat percentage caused me to stop and reflect that if I continued to self-sabotage in this way, I wouldn’t get any faster in a boat and nor would I fit into my skiing kit this winter amongst other longer term wellness motivators. I’ve started a self-care programme of eating less & better (with a focus on waaaaay less sugar + gut health) and moving more in different ways: I did a dance aerobics class recently which took me right back to the 80s! I’m tracking the changes over the next 7 weeks and then starting again in January. I can’t replicate the impact of Christmas + a ski trip so didn’t want that to skew the results. In January I will be continuing with the healthy eating & moving more in different ways, but adding in our GLP-1 activator MindBody System and tracking what difference that will make. The science and the results coming in from the USA are simply amazing – it’s no wonder it sold out in 12 days! – so I’m excited to see what happens to my stats. PS. Our GLP-1 MindBody System is due to launch in the UK & EU in April and I’m already curating my VIP waiting list. Let me know if you want in. #weightmanagement #genx #babyboomer #midlifewellness #glp1 #nutrigenomics #vipwaitinglist #newproductlaunch

Meet Krissy & Paul! They have been in the spotlight individually recently, but here is their combined transformation! We asked them a few questions about their journey so far. **Why Team JW?** We chose JW after seeing their success stories online. Losing weight is tough, but being part of a supportive community makes it easier. We needed a plan that included normal food for our family and fit into our busy lives – JW does that perfectly. **Why now?** We needed a change before it was too late. Trying on clothes was a nightmare, and packing for vacations was stressful. We wanted to set a healthy example for Paul's 11-year-old daughter. **What keeps you on track?** Remembering how far we've come. We vowed never to go back to where we were. It's a tough journey, but we enjoy it together. **Long-term goals?** To sustain this lifestyle. We’re learning about food, fitness, and accountability, thanks to the JW community and coaches. This journey is about rediscovering ourselves, and we’re well on our way." You both an inspiration to many and an asses to Team JW! #weightloss #fitness #weightlossjourney #nutrition #healthylifestyle #health #fitnessmotivation #diet #workout #gym #motivation

I totally disagree with Sisson’s reference👇🏼to us humans as “animals“! ❌ But I do agree with him on what’s happening to/with our society: “We can sit on our rears and have 5000 calories of food delivered to our doorstep. That's the test we're running.” A reminder we must be INTENTIONAL about our eating, moving, sleeping, etc. 💪🏼 Else we’ll lose our “health battle” to the (social) media data scientists re: algorithms and/or the food scientists re: taste/ingredients! 😤 Be intentional about your food and fitness‼️ #Intentional #Fitness #BrainHealth #MentalHealth #MovementIsMedicine #Exercise #HealthyAging #BigFood #BigPharma #FoodIsMedicine ============ Per Mark Sisson: “For today's ‘Sunday with Sisson’, I'm going to talk about the problem of thinking about exercising as a "health intervention." When you think about it, exercise isn't the intervention. Movement isn't an intervention. Playing sports, going for a run, hiking through the mountains, playing games at the park—none of these are interventions. The real intervention is the experimental condition we've been running for the past 60 years: what happens when you prevent an entire population of animals from moving throughout the day? What happens when you render immobile an animal that for millions of years has walked, run, climbed, lifted, fought, and moved at both a vigorous and leisurely pace throughout the day, every day, for the entirety of its existence? The real intervention, the experimental condition, is the one in which we find ourselves. We don't move unless we have to, and we almost never have to. We can sit on our rears and have 5000 calories of food delivered to our doorstep. That's the test we're running. Exercising, going for a walk, squatting and deadlifting, swimming laps, sprinting at the beach or up a hill, playing basketball or going for paddle or grueling 2 hour fat tire ride on the sand are simply returns to normalcy. They are restorations of order. A return to how our organism is supposed to live. Exercise is the control condition. In other words, movement is obligatory. You can't avoid it and still be healthy. When it's an intervention, you can avoid it. When it's a fundamental constant of human life, you can't. Or you can, but you feel guilty about it and can't wait to rectify the deficit in your life. That's how you have to think about physical activity: it's the experimental control. It's the baseline.”
