AI is expected to rise to 4th place in 2025, and IoT is likely to remain the 5th-ranked priority. Every year, IoT Analytics surveys senior IT decision-makers about their companies’ top technology priorities, giving insight into how many organizations prioritize technology investments. For 2025, survey respondents project a significant change, with AI expected to rise 4 spots to 4th and cloud expected to drop 4 spots to 8th place after companies heavily increased their spending on cloud projects during and just after the COVID-19 pandemic. ERP systems are changing as fast or faster than most other sectors of software. Here is our list of the biggest trends for 2024: 1 - AI/ML - Of course, as with everything else in our world, AI and machine learning are changing ERP systems. FRom static systems that held data and did some processing, we’re headed to ERP systems that deliver results, advice, and even act independently to work on our business’s behalf. This is just the beginning of the changes that AI will bring. 2 - IoT Integration - ERP systems will project themselves into the real world with IoT devices that will deliver data automatically. This will allow the system to operate as its own watchdog. IoT devices can do everything from monitoring warehouses to track shipments to observe customer traffic. All of this can be delivered to the ERP instantly and without human intervention. This data will simply be available to stakeholders. 3 - Cloud and mobile access - No longer will ERP systems be stuck at the office. New innovations will allow the ERP system to be accessed from everywhere. Cloud-based systems will be constantly updated and can be accessed by users from everywhere on the planet at once. 4 - Increased security - As we move our ERPs to the cloud, we need to be extra vigilant. We will see increased cybersecurity measures put in place to keep out the bad guys, but make it easy for our team to access the system.
