Love this move! In an industry where creators frequently leave their foundational brands to go independent but are often unable to take their IP with them, there’s always been this looming question about Hot Ones: “What happens if Sean leaves?” I love this reverse Uno card moment where he and Chris took the entire IP they built together out the door. At BuzzFeed, there were many instances where creators tried to take their IP with them, but it just wasn’t possible. For example, Ryan and Shane couldn’t take Unsolved, so they had to create Watcher. Similarly, Ladylike couldn’t take their IP with them, and now they’re all doing their own separate projects. The Try Guys are a rare exception—they were able to keep their IP and create new content, although all their old content remains on BuzzFeed, with a small revenue share in place. It makes me wonder: will we start seeing more of this? Creators growing at places like Vox, Condé Nast, or The New York Times, and eventually buying their… freedom, but also taking their belongings with them! Merry Christmas to the Hot Ones team—love to see it!
Feels like good hands for Hot Ones, a win for our industry and a win for Rhett & Link's Mythical Entertainment. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts here

I finally got the chance to watch the sequel, Venom: The Last Dance, and it was fantastic. The ending left a lasting impression on me. Eddie Brock walks down the street, lost in thought, as "Memories" by Maroon 5 plays. https://lnkd.in/gXUFBUXe This scene resonated deeply—not just as a cinematic moment, but as a metaphor for life and work. With the three movie sequels, Eddie’s journey mirrors the experiences we all face, filled with challenges, relationships, and personal growth. Loss and Change: We all encounter moments of loss—whether it’s relationships, projects, or goals we’ve had to leave behind. These experiences shape us and teach us resilience. Partnerships: Eddie’s dynamic with Venom shows that even unconventional collaborations can lead to meaningful growth when nurtured. Partnerships often challenge us in ways that bring out our best. Looking Ahead: After every trial, there’s a time to pause, reflect, and envision the future. It’s in these moments of reflection that we find clarity and purpose. In both life and work, taking time to reflect is essential. It helps us honor the past, learn valuable lessons, and move forward with intention. What recent experiences have caused you to pause and reflect? How have they shaped your perspective? Let’s start a conversation.

Very good insight! I agree, the landscape is shifting. Adapt or die. As a TV and movie production company we can align with the streaming platforms, and with half a dozen companies reach HALF of the entire world's population. By doing so we can also control our own destiny and costs. That is alluring. The media distribution marketplace will dramatically change in the next 36 months. Is there a place for cinema, theatres, streaming, and other alternative delivery methods to co-exist? Time will tell, we all adapt, we all evolve, that is the nature of business. Here is a prelude of things to come...
