CALL TO ACTION: SURVEY FOR THE 9th LuCE REPORT Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE) is today announcing the launch of an important new survey, together with 39 of its Member Organisations. This survey will form part of the 9th LuCE Report, entitled 'Lung Cancer: Information, Knowledge and Involvement in Shared Decision-Making'. The aim of the online survey is to collect and collate as much data as possible from people impacted by lung cancer across Europe. This will enable us to compile the most meaningful and impactful report possible. The more information we have from those across Europe affected by lung cancer, the more powerful our advocacy work will be. The survey is open to people diagnosed with lung cancer and those caring for someone with the disease. By collecting this information, we also hope to understand knowledge gaps, identify information preferences and explore the level of involvement in shared decision-making about treatment and care. The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete and participation is anonymous. The deadline for completing the survey is July 7th, 2024. The results will be published in the 9th LuCE Report on Lung Cancer in November 2024 which will be open access and available on the LuCE website. Thank you to our members for their support of this project. The survey can be accessed in 20 different languages. Despite our difficult news earlier, NIPANC, with the good wishes and blessing of our Trustee, Susan McLaughlin, is currently en route to Dublin. The show must go on, in our determined effort to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer, its symptoms, the need for urgent early diagnosis and treatment. We need to do more to change the picture of pancreatic cancer for the better. That's why, as part of its Partners in #TimeMatters campaign for #PCAM, the charity is taking a stand, presenting at and part sponsoring the 49th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Pancreatic Cancer Society of Great Britain and Ireland. The conference is taking place from today, November 20th to the 22nd in the The Grand Hotel Malahide in Dublin. Tomorrow, on World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day, our Trustee, Professor Mark A Taylor, a leading NI Hepatobiliary Surgeon, and Expert Advisor to the Department of Health, will be chairing a session at which he will also speak. His presentation will focus on a unique alliance between NIPANC, national charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK, and the Department of Health for NI. It is a first of its kind partnership in the UK aimed at improving pancreatic cancer patient pathways and outcomes. This work is a test case, with benefits and learnings for the health service locally and more broadly across the UK for the timely diagnosis and treatment, of this and other more common cancers. Please familiarise yourself with the symptoms of #PancreaticCancer and seek early, urgent, lifesaving diagnosis and treatment: nipanc.org/symptoms #TimeMatters

At Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE), we all work together to ensure the voice of lung cancer patients and those affected by lung cancer is heard across Europe. We always strive to represent you, your organisation and the people you represent. To that end, we are creating a new Friday News post on our social media channels and the News section of the LuCE website called: FRIDAY NEWS: VOICES of LuCE. We want to profile all our members and to show you who they are and what they are doing in their countries. We want to make lung cancer patients and their families aware of what they are working on as well as any new developments that are happening in the organisation or in the member state itself. Its aim is to share any news items or developments in your organisation or your country. Examples could be sharing updates or project developments you are working on in your organisations, the appointment of new board members or new team members in your organisation, vacancies, new research into lung cancer being done in your country, initiatives being announced by the health authorities in your country or policy papers being produced at any level. We hope this will help raise awareness of the work that is being done in each country and more generally across Europe. We hope this will help focus the EU, governments and health authorities to ensure lung cancer patients are getting the treatment they deserve in a fair and timely manner in every country. And, as always, our ultimate aim is to make sure the voice of Europeans impacted by or at risk of lung cancer is heard loud and clear If you have news about your member organisation, please email the LuCE team at info@lungcancereurope.eu If you would like to join, please email the same address. #VoicesofLuCE FridayNews #LuCE #LungCancerEurope #LungCancer #LuCEMembers #LungCancerPatientAdvocacy #LCSM

Yesterday 10 November was World NET Cancer Day! Camurus is honored to be part of and support this awareness campaign – coordinated by the International Neuroendocrine Cancer Alliance (INCA) – which aims to raise a voice for those affected by any type of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Its mission is to increase knowledge, secure timely diagnosis, and access to optimal care. NETs are slow-growing cancerous tumors originating from cells in the endocrine and nervous systems that can occur throughout the body. The disease is life-limiting and is often diagnosed late in disease progression. Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, GEP-NET, is the most common subgroup of NETs with tumors located in the gastrointestinal tract or pancreas. (1) Though relatively rare, NETs are more prevalent than brain, ovarian, and cervical cancer, and the incidence is rising, making symptom awareness vital for earlier diagnosis and ultimately better outcomes. (2) In connection to the day, Camurus’ employees will this week learn more by listening to Simona Barbi – INCA Secretary of the Board and President of NET Italy presenting on NETs from a patient perspective. We are looking forward to it! Learn more about NETs by watching the video 👇 and on: https://lnkd.in/dy4DZBTq 1. Das, S., et al. Current Oncology Reports. Mar 14; 23(4): 43, 2021; 2. 🆕Publication! Interested to know regional differences in the incidence and relative survival of overall cancer, as well as the most common subtypes between men and women?📈📊 This descriptive cohort study provides the first thorough evaluation of the incidence and survival trends during 2007-2021 at the regional level in Denmark! 🇩🇰We used individual-level data from the Danish registries and identified almost 580,000 incident cancer diagnoses during the study period, hereof ~124,000 in the most recent period, 2019-2021. 🔎Specific details of regional differences in cancer incidence and survival, and overall trends, are available through the associated publication (https://lnkd.in/dhJ6Ccg3).
