I can't believe it's already a month since I started my new role at the Ammerdown Retreat Centre in Somerset! For those of you who don't know, I joined as Director in February and I am LOVING it! Set in the heart of the Somerset countryside, this beautiful sanctuary of peace is just 12 miles south of Bath and 16 miles from Bristol. The website is www.ammerdown.org At its heart, Ammerdown is about Hospitality, Peace and Reconciliation. It believes in a shared world; where diversity and different identities are cherished; where all can live free from the fear of violence and abuse, with dignity and respect; and where differences and conflicts are transformed peacefully. As well as delivering an expanding range of courses, from shorter events and reflection days to longer residential retreats, we generate important income by offering five modern meeting/conference rooms with AV equipment and hearing loops - these can cater for a range of meeting sizes from just a few people in a boardroom style up to 80 people in a conference setting. We also offer private stays on a B&B basis or with extra meals (and you will LOVE the Ammerdown catering!). We even have a large self-catering cottage available for holiday hire for up to 8 people. As we see the news each day, it seems clear that the pathways to peace and reconciliation are long and challenging, but also critically important.
