The Respectful Triathlete part 2. Family support is by far the most important in helping you achieve your goal of competing in a triathlon, regardless of the distance. It is vital that they get the full respect they deserve during the lead up to the event and that there needs are taken into account. #respect #beingrespectful #manners #ethics #triathlon # duathlon #cycling #running #swimming #traininggoals #familyfirst @run_storeza @pivotandrun @ihfproducts @guenergysa @msmithimplus @fluidlinessa @squirrels_nut_butter_sa https://lnkd.in/dhnqVWHJ

Paris 2024 Olympic Swimming - Submerged #1 Womens 400 Freestyle. 1.64 seconds separates this field of 8 athletes. Arguably the tightest and most competitive Women’s 400 Freestyle field ever assembled. The final has defending champions, a group of world record holders and world champions, old and new. If even at the 350, watch Titmus’ (AUS) speed capability over Ledecky’s (USA) endurance attrition, all other factors being equal. Fairweather (NZL) is in form and along with Macintosh (CAN) will create the pressure on the top 3. Men’s 400 Free. A similar time spread, sees 1.62 seconds across the top 8 from heats. A tight field, with Märtens (GER) the most recent inform athlete, dangerously close to the only, remaining “Super Suit” World Record in the books (Paul Biedermann (GER) 3:40.07), set in 2009. Possibly a closer race across the top three than in the women, Winnington (AUS), Short (AUS) and Woo-Min Kim (KOR) have specific endurance strengths to challenge Märtens. Women’s 4 x 100 Free Relay. The depth and strength of Australia’s women 100 freestylers makes for a good defence of Olympic titles. The US should never be discounted, particularly from a changeover capability, grounded in collegiate competition. China and Sweden both have strength but lack in overall depth. Men’s 4 x 100 Freestyle Relay. This will be a super race, with AUS, USA and CHN all powerful for different reasons. Watch the changeover, underwater and breakout performances of the US team, especially. This strength in the US team will be off set by Australia’s BES (back end speed) capability. #olympicswimming #Paris2024

AUSTRALIA beat its record with 18 Gold Medals today at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Breakdown of quick insights on medal performances so far: ■ Gold Medal: Currently 40% of Australia's total Gold Medals came from swimming (or put differently: 32% from women's swimming gold). With a few days remaining, I predict 30% of total Gold will be swimming (which is excellent -- at Tokyo 2020 swimming was 53% gold); ■ Just Add Water: 70% of Australia's total 40 medals so far have come from "water-related events" - rowing, sailing, swimming, canoe slalom. ■ Powerful Women: Currently 62% of the Australia's total 39 medals are won by Women ■ Team Sports: Currently 20% of total 39 medals from team sports. With women basketball and beach volleyball (we're in semis in both), waterpolo and few cycling events left -- could hit 25% total medals from team sports.

It’s gold for Ireland. The first swimming gold medal since Atlanta 1996! Daniel Wiffen demonstrated high performance at its best. You could see as soon as he entered the arena that he had the ‘presence’ to deliver. Presence for high-performing people typically refers to a combination of qualities and behaviors that allow them to command attention, influence others, and achieve their goals effectively. Here are some key aspects of presence for high-performing individuals: 1. Confidence: High-performing people exude confidence in their abilities and decisions. They have a strong belief in themselves and their capabilities, which is evident in how they carry themselves and interact with others. 2. Authenticity: Authenticity is crucial to presence. High-performing individuals are genuine and true to themselves, which helps them build trust and credibility with others. 3. Charisma: They often possess charisma, which is a compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire and influence people around them. Charismatic individuals have a magnetic presence that draws others to them. 4. Clarity of communication: Effective communication is a hallmark of presence. High-performing people can articulate their ideas clearly and persuasively, whether speaking one-on-one or to a larger audience. 5. Emotional intelligence: They are adept at understanding and managing their emotions and the emotions of others. This allows them to navigate complex social situations with grace and empathy. 6. Resilience: Presence is also about resilience in the face of challenges and setbacks. High-performing individuals remain composed and focused under pressure, demonstrating their ability to handle adversity. 7. Focus and presence of mind: They have a strong presence of mind, staying focused on their goals and making decisions decisively. This mental clarity helps them stay productive and effective in demanding situations. 8. Impactful body language: Non-verbal cues such as posture, gestures, and facial expressions contribute significantly to presence. High-performing people often have a commanding presence through their body language. 9. Influence: Presence enables high-performing individuals to exert influence and make an impact in their professional and personal spheres. Others look up to them for guidance and leadership. 10. Continuous growth: Finally, presence for high-performing people involves a commitment to continuous growth and development. They are always refining their skills, learning from experiences, and evolving as leaders and individuals. Which one of the 10 above are you performing well in? How can you maximise it further? A strengths based coaching approach can help you with this. If you would like any support in developing your presence, please get in touch. #gold #olympics #presence #coaching Mick Todd Peter Charles Turner David Labouchere Ian Ward Patrick Harrison Olga Cassidy Victoria Tipper Garreth Ewing Jack Wolstencroft Tony Martin

Paris 2024 Olympic Swimming - Submerged #2 Men’s 400 Individual Medley: This is the closest Olympic swimming comes to a one horse race. Marchand (FRA) has a “complete set” in terms of his 200m quality across all four strokes. His transitions (changing strokes) and underwater work are the best. He will excel in the breast leg and the more time he is swimming freestyle (fastest stroke) while the others are still on breaststroke (slowest stroke), he effectively doubles his lead. After the easiest 4.08 I’ve ever seen in a heat, apart from Michael Phelps (USA) and Ryan Lochte (USA), one can throw back to the 1988 Seoul Olympics and you have a comparison in Tamás Darnyi (HUN). Carsen Foster (USA) although fastest in the world this year and comfortable with a 4.11 in heats, will likely be chasing for second. Women’s 100 Fly: Another chance for McKeon (AUS) to consolidate her place as Australia’s most medal winning Olympian but she’ll be doing it from the outside lanes - plenty have done it from there. However, Walsh (USA) with her Olympic Record in the semis, Huske (USA) and Kohler (GER) with impressive second 50’s, will make things difficult. A 29. coming home will most likely win this one. Men’s 100 Breast. The focus for this event is clearly on Adam Peaty’s (GBR) ability to secure his 3rd consecutive 100m Breaststroke Olympic title. With that status comes the age question. But old breastrokers make good ones - the average age of this final is 26.1 yrs, just over 2 years older than the average age of all top male swimmers in 2022. Fink (USA) will be a serious threat, as will Kamminga (NED), Qin (CHN) and Martinenghi (ITA) - the splits of each of these athletes indicates that any challenge to Peaty will come all in the final 20m. #olympicswimming #Paris2024

Catapult River Jumping is yet to be an Olympic event. But here are some Little-Known Olympic Events The Olympics have a rich history filled with unusual and forgotten sports. Here are a few: Discontinued Events Live Pigeon Shooting: This gruesome event involved shooting live pigeons. Thankfully, it was only held once in 1900. Lesser-Known Modern Events Canoe Sprint: While canoeing is known, the intricacies of sprint events often go unnoticed. Badminton: Despite its popularity, it was only added to the Olympic program 1992. Modern Pentathlon: This event combines shooting, fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping, and running.
