In my day-to-day work with professionals and city managers, I consistently advocate for the adoption of high-value, globally recognized protocols in smart lighting. Today, I’m happy to see and highlight a major step forward: the DALI Alliance, the TALQ Consortium, and the Zhaga Consortium have united efforts to streamline data across smart street lighting solutions. This collaboration is set to enhance interoperability, giving cities and private entities more choices for more sustainable investments. For cities like Agadir, these standards form the foundation of our ongoing smart lighting strategy. By aligning with these robust protocols, we're paving the way for durable, efficient, and future-proof lighting solutions that support sustainable urban growth. Beecham Research has recently published a sector report on #SmartBuildings, highlighting the suitability of #LoRaWAN for building applications. LoRaWAN requires only a few gateways per building, making it quick and cost-effective to install. Additionally, it can penetrate concrete and steel and transmit signals underground. As an open standard with device certification available, LoRaWAN has a large ecosystem of vendors, providing a wide range of options. VSE x LEDCity ⚡ The ‘Verband Schweizerischer Elektrizitätsunternehmen VSE' is the umbrella organization of the Swiss electricity industry and serves as an educational institution and political voice. Part of their strategy is fostering energy efficiency in Switzerland, as exemplified by their early adopter role in installing our lighting system #NOMUS. The result of transitioning to an intelligent lighting system? Savings of 78%, all without employees noticing any change. The light follows movement with a follow-up time of only seven seconds, thereby optimizing the balance between a pleasant amount of light and maximum energy efficiency. And that is not all, the system’s daylight control feature adjusts light based on how much of the natural light is shining into the building. In the corridor, the modern NOMUS Aval luminaires enhance the aesthetic ambiance, while in the coffee break zone, we retained the original fixtures and effortlessly upgraded them with a NOMUS Sensor Node.
