“At the moment, we are building out a facility to host quantum computers just next door to our office here. We will have a space to host up to three quantum computers. It’s just nearing completion, and we should have the first quantum computer up and running early next year.” In an interview with e27 (Optimatic), our CEO, Dr Joe Fitzsimons, shared his views on the advantages of establishing a quantum startup in Singapore, the progress we're making with building our modular quantum hardware testbed, how quantum computing will impact various industries and the role it will play in accelerating AI. Exciting news from Open Quantum Design! The world’s first open-source quantum computer producer, founded by IQC members Roger Melko, Crystal Senko, and Rajibul Islam, and entrepreneur Greg Dick, has partnered with quantum heavy hitters Xanadu, University of Waterloo, Unitary Foundation, and Haiqu. Their team is working to open up the hardware and software intellectual property for the first of its kind trapped-ion quantum computer to collaborators who are looking to participate in a global quantum sandbox. This partnership will enable unfettered access to quality quantum computing hardware, software, and up-to-date training opportunities that will accelerate innovation and serve to develop the quantum workforce of the future. IQC is proud to have supported the work that pioneered the foundational research to build the basis of the computer. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gXVghkjT

Day 2 at #Q2BSV in sunny Santa Clara, CA. It looks like today will be another busy day at the conference, with great talks and panels. It's a perfect way to end a year of significant innovations. I want to draw your attention to three things this morning. At 10 AM, Matthew Kinsella, CEO of Infleqtion, will give a talk on the main stage: "Commercializing Quantum – Real World Impact NOW". Immediately afterward, at 10:20, Infleqtion will continue giving away no-charge copies of my book Dancing with Qubits, Second Edition, and I'll be there to sign them. At 10:50 AM, Carmen Palacios-Berraquero, CEO of Nu Quantum , will discuss "Distributed Quantum Computation via the Entanglement Fabric." We must make big enough quantum computers by linking high-performing smaller ones together and further networking the systems.

Last Friday, #quantumcomputing was a hot topic at The Science Forum in Helsinki, whose theme this year was Insights and Oversights. Our CEO Sabrina Maniscalco joined Jukka Pekola and Nina Granqvist from Aalto University, Janne Lehtinen from SemiQon, and Charles Marcus from University of Washington to discuss “Quantum Computer – Big Promises to Deliver.” Among the topics discussed, these were some of our favourites 🔥: 🤖 What makes quantum computers different from traditional computers? 🤖 What are the most promising practical applications of #quantum computers? 🤖 What is hype and what is real in the world of quantum computing? 🤖 How far away are we from quantum advantage? Participating in public conversations is an essential part of our mission at Algorithmiq, especially when it gives us the chance to educate interested parties on the possibilities of #quantum technologies. Moreover, we believe that Finland has an important role to play in the quantum ecosystem. 🇫🇮

This chart is an update to one I showed at Q2B and also provide to subscribers of intelligence reports from The Futurum Group. I'm posting it because once you get past the handful of companies that get the most press, there is confusion regarding the most popular quantum computing modalities. There are background stories for each modality, such as which one recently got big-name partnerships from companies that work in other forms of qubit implementation.
