Thanksgiving break ended with me sick in bed for a week, sipping ginger and lemon tea routinely. Needless to say, all my plans for posting daily here went out the window amongst other things. What that week taught me, though, is how important it is to slow down. I could’ve pushed myself to keep going, forcing my way through assignments and brainstorming new posts but honestly, what good would that have done? Sometimes, the best thing you can do is listen to your body and hit pause. We’re often so busy chasing the next thing that we forget to check in with ourselves. Are we actually ready for what’s ahead, or do we need to reflect and regroup? Moral of the story: Carve out some time during the week to check in and ask yourself these questions to stay in tune with yourself. Hoping to get back to posting daily assuming life cooperates this time.

Ask thoughtful questions….Then be quiet.  After 100+ recorded conversations and meeting interesting people, I’m reminded how important it is to listen and let the ideas of the person across from you, BREATHE. It takes time for us to find the right words, to articulate how we actually feel and sometimes it doesn’t come out right the first time. Sometimes words are not enough.  Asking better questions has taught me the power of listening and how much can be said....without saying much. As we all head home and celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, try asking a few more questions around the table, be genuinely curious about how they’re doing and sit back and let them talk.  In my experience, you leave folks with bigger smiles and warmer attitudes. #Thanksgiving #Listen #GoodQuestions #Curiosity

We’re most fulfilled when moving toward a goal. Each step you take, no matter how small, creates momentum. When you take action: • you’ll feel more inspired, • your spirits will begin to lift, and • you’ll be one step closer to your dreams. 3. Practice gratitude. Each day write down: • 3 things you’re grateful for, and • 3 things you appreciate about yourself. Do this for a week. This trains your brain to focus on the positive. 7 random things I've been thinking about this week, if you're into that sorta thing (217 words): 1.) I love the way running makes me feel but not enough to do it more than once a week. 2.) How long has the “It’s giving me _______” saying been a thing? As in, when did we decide to drop the word 'vibes' from the sentence? Is this a new TikTok thing? Because it makes me want to vomit. “It’s giving me Taylor circa 2007” has a vastly different tone than “It’s giving me Taylor circa 2007 vibes.” 3.) My criteria for a good ‘random things’ post: did I lose a follower within one hour of posting? If no, then it’s not a good post. 4.) I miss landlines. 5.) What’s everybody’s favorite line from the Drake and K Dot beef? Mine's gotta be that Kendrick one about Tommy Hilfiger and FUBU. (Great to have a real rap beef again. Kendrick is bodying.) 6.) Just to make sure we’re all on the same page—May is the best month of the year, right? 7.) Why are birds so loud in the morning? And what are they saying to each other? That's it for this week.
