If you're taking some time off for Christmas, will you be proactive in your resting? Here’s the thing… just like athletes follow focused recovery programmes, we too should treat rest and recharging as something intentional. That way, we come back sharper, more on top of our game (and enjoy our time off more too). Choose the things that truly refill your batteries - the activities that make you feel better, give you energy, and allow your mind and body to recover and restore. Me? I’m breaking up a little early this year and getting fully into the festive spirit. I’ll be... 🎶 Singing in two candlelit carol services. 🏰 Visiting Chatsworth House’s 24 Rooms of Christmas and their light trail. 🎭 Watching the Nottingham Playhouse panto (oh yes, I am!). 🚶♂️ Gentle family walks, Christmas films, computer games, and just being together for a while. For me, it’s a mix of moments that bring light and joy—and the quieter ones that let me simply rest. Here’s the thing: we’re better for it. When we rest with purpose, we create the space to return sharper, more creative, and more focused. We show up better for our work, our clients, and ourselves. And importantly, we have more energy to enjoy life fully and have a little more fun along the way. So, my encouragement to you: 🗓️ Plan out your relaxation. 🎁 Among the family duties and festivities, carve out proper “me time” too. Because recharging isn’t a luxury - it’s a necessity. So, what are you doing to recharge over the holidays?

Christmas and I don’t want to just wish you a Happy Christmas - everyone does that! Instead, I’m going to stay on brand and wish you an ALIGNED Christmas. Which basically means one that feels just right for you. For some, an aligned Christmas might mean a house full of laughter and loved ones. For others, it could mean quiet moments, a good book, and a chance to recharge. If you’re not sure what alignment might look like for you, pay attention this holiday season. Consciously tune into what feels good, where you feel connected and peaceful. You can make a concerted effort then to do more of the things that bring you joy. Of course this process isn’t just for Christmas. All year round we can pay attention to our thoughts and feelings, all year round we can make choices that make us feel connected, all year round we can be in alignment. But perhaps let’s start with Christmas. Have a good one. See you on the other side.

As someone who coaches people to gain balance I have to be transparent that the social media aspect of my job can drain me from time to time so it’s really important I recognise that and take a break when needed.
