The Magic of Consumer Marketing (and something exciting) I spent several years of my early career in marketing roles. I learnt how to go deep into the consumers' psyche, and not just stop at what they say they want, but what they actually need, and what their #jobstobedone are (hat tip to Clayton Christensen Institute). I learnt the importance of this the hard way - made a positioning blunder once and saw the traffic withering away. But turning that around by getting much closer to customers while also staying true to our core value propositions allowed us to build one of the most loved consumer brands in the country today. One of the most exciting challenges for me as we build Furrl, is creating a national brand that customers love. We are not just a revolution in how today's consumers discover new products and labels, we are also claiming a large share of their mindspace. Early customer love has been great validation for Furrl, especially when customers say "I love your products. Whenever I'm bored, I check Furrl to see what's new." But our ambitions are vast and the journey has just begun. And we're looking for champions to learn, grow and contribute on this journey with us. There are two marketing roles we are hiring for, both of whom will work directly with me: 1. Content and Brand Marketing Manager - Overall ownership of brand and content, with major focus on social media 2. Funny Cry, Keira! Like "Social Media Manager" , SM Specialist or Apprenticeship Advocate would do better in an imaginary/virtual "HR-marketing index of clarity". Or like is any industry / academic domain to not get the "benefits" /"reverse equity" of of our Generative Fever. I was [Analyst] Programmer for many decades, in both the communist/post-communist's social laboratories of Romania and it stayed like that long years after migrating to The Wild West, while working for a few small/large companies. It was at BofA were my title got "turbulent", not sure exactly why, the external tide caused The New Fashion of HR digitalization or the Creative Shake of a proactive reaction to the trend in a company with 14-15 levels of hierarchy, in its needs to accommodate a military-hierarchy model to the self-boiling agility of "re-evolutionary self-driving democratic vehicles" after we, the sons of Gods, re-quantified our lunatic goals.
I've never known anything as confusing as job titles in marketing. Marketing Executive at one company ➡️ entry level, earning £20k Marketing Executive at another place ➡️ 3+ years experience, earning £35k In marketing 'executive' usually means you're just starting out, but in other industries, it's a title for those at the top of the ladder. The inconsistency in marketing job titles is baffling, and I bet almost every marketer with the SAME title has a completely DIFFERENT role and salary. Instead of chasing a fancy job title, look for a role that is going to fulfil you with the right experiences and offer the opportunities you want. It's easy to get caught up in chasing a title with 'Lead' or 'Head of' in it, but if the role is basically an exec, what's the point? And if you're looking for a job in marketing, DON'T focus on the job title. Instead, look at the description and criteria to see if the role is relevant for you. A job title shouldn't define your worth - it shouldn't intimidate you either.

We know you want some 😏 - Marketing also means sales, right? So it'll also be your job - You're so talented and have so little to do. We'll loan you to other departments, too Good luck, and have fun being our newest slav... marketing specialist 🙌 And no, I'm not afraid someone might see this and decide they shouldn't hire me. If they have a similar mentality to those behind these job ads, they're doing me a service by avoiding me. If you see something, you say something. Or live long enough to become chained by a company and job you'll hate.
