Launch of the National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE) training course and an online exam practice simulator for Canadian professional engineering licence application Building on the success of the NPPE Online Test Simulator that I developed some time ago, I am thrilled to launch the comprehensive NPPE Course this time! This course is tailored for engineering graduates both locally in Canada and internationally, aiming to obtain their professional engineering license (P.Eng) in Canada. After serious efforts—and unearthing my old notes from book reads—I’ve finally developed this course to cover the entire NPPE syllabus within 6 modules and 40 submodules. I’m confident that taking this course and practicing on the NPPE Test Simulator will more than equip engineering graduates to sit in NPPE confidently. The course features the following modules: Module I: Professionalism (4 Submodules) Module II: Ethics (4 Submodules) Module III: Professional Practice (10 Submodules) Module IV: Law for Professional Practice (14 Submodules) Module V: Professional Law (4 Submodules) Module VI: Regulation of Members & Discipline Processes (4 Submodules) Each module and submodule is designed to align with the NPPE syllabus to ensure that all the concepts are covered well. I wish you success in your NPPE journey and invite you to explore the details and share your feedback! https://lnkd.in/g6qkfaUq #NPPE #EngineeringLicensure #ProfessionalDevelopment #PEng #NationalProfessionalPracticeExamPreparation

Here's our weekly interaction with our clients: #NPPE Q: Is using the title entry level engineer when you are an EIT wrong? Will is be decline or enforced? A: The use of the title "Engineer" is reserved for those who are licensed. According to Engineers Canada, Use of professional title and designations, under "Misuse of the title engineer": "Claiming to be an engineer without being licensed is against the law. Titles such as Professional Engineer, Professional Licensee (engineering), P. Eng., P.L. (Eng.), or any title including the word engineer or a related abbreviation can only be used by those who are licensed. This also applies where such terms and abbreviations are combined with any name, title, description, letter, symbol, or abbreviation. The use of terms or abbreviations that imply someone is licensed with a regulator when they are not can result in legal action." So, it is best to put EIT after your name until you get your P.Eng. license. In addition, the same source states under "Enforcement" that Provincial and territorial regulators can take legal action against anyone who uses the title "engineer" improperly. Courts have the power to issue fines and injunctions to stop unauthorized use of the title. #NPPE Q: Could you explain what is meant by "operational score"? Specifically, how does the scoring work with the 100 valid questions versus the 10 test questions? A: Ten questions out of 110 are for testing purposes and don't count. They relate to the current syllabus, but they are newer ones that the associations are trying out. They don't know if they are difficult enough to use for future NPPE sittings, so they are testing them now to gather data. They might use them in the future to increase the NPPE question pool or to retire older questions. You won't know which ones are the experimental questions, so treat each question as real. So, the 100 marked questions will make up your operational score. However, according to the NPPE website, you cannot identify which ones are operational and which are experimental. Are you stuck with any engineering licensing step? We can definitely help you. Visit us at practiceppeexams.ca.

What constitutes combined Ex equipment or assemblies? As per the ATEX 2014/34/EU Guidelines 4th Edition issued in November 2022, §44 discusses Combined equipment (assemblies): ... In order to clarify the concept of "assembly" in the sense of Directive, a pump/electric motor combination intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres can be used as an example. ... 2. a) In some cases the pump and electric motor can be considered separately although they form a functional unit. If in this case there is no additional ignition hazard as a result of assembling the pump and motor, this functional unit as a whole does not constitute a single item of equipment which falls within the scope of Directive 2014/34/EU. It is then to be considered a combination of "individual items of equipment" in terms of explosion protection. In this case, therefore, the manufacturer of pump and electrical motor must supply an EU declaration of conformity for each of both items. 2. b) A manufacturer may nevertheless choose to supply pump and motor as described in 2. a) with one EU declaration of conformity for the assembly as a whole. In this case further clarification is required as to the obligation of the assembler where only ATEX compliant products (such as equipment and autonomous protective systems) are used. Here it is clear that the assembler needs to undertake an ignition risk assessment to ensure that the nature of the incorporation and assembly has not altered the explosion characteristics of the products with respect to the essential health and safety requirements of the Directive. If the assembler is in any way uncertain as to how to undertake such an assessment, technical advice should be sought and taken into account. This might be the case, for example, if a manufacturer of mechanical equipment needs to connect different pieces of ATEX electrical equipment together as part of the assembly. Once the assembler has successfully undertaken such an assessment and no additional ignition risk has been identified, the general agreement is that he then draws up a technical file, affixes the CE and E x marking according to Annex II 1.0.5 of the Directive to the assembly, indicating intended use, signs the EU declaration of conformity covering the whole of the assembly indicating the technical specifications/ standards applied (for example, for electrical inter-connection) and provide instructions for safe use. The assembler therefore takes complete responsibility for the assembly. This procedure does not require the involvement of a notified body. ... Final text of the revised Construction Products Regulation adopted by the European Parliament We have been informed that the revised Construction Products Regulation has been approved as a result of the European Parliament plenary sitting on 7 October 2024. The English version of the compromise text had been adopted in April 2024. The final text has now been accepted in all official languages. The regulation still needs to be approved by the Council and is expected to be published in the Official Journal of the European Union in December 2024 or January 2025 and entry into force 20 days after publication. Having closely monitored the developments since the adoption of the initial proposal of the European Commission in March 2022, the UBAtc and its approval and certification operators, ANPI asbl-vzw, BCCA - Belgian Construction Certification Association, Buildwise, COPRO, ISIB, PROCERTUS, SECO Belgium and WOOD.BE, come to the following conclusions: - The European Technical Assessment will continue to be the instrument that manufacturers may use to draw up declarations of performance for products not (yet) covered by European harmonised technical specifications and based on that declaration, to affix the CE marking on their products - The European Assessment Documents will continue to be the basis for the development of European Technical Assessments - The European Organisation for Technical Assessment, EOTA, has the intention to continue acting as the organisation that unites the Technical Assessment Bodies and coordinates their efforts - The UBAtc will still be able to satisfy the requirements enabling the organisation to continue being a member of EOTA and responsible for the development and the issuing of European Technical Assessments At least for the time being, it is not yet fully clear how the transition from the present towards the future revised Construction Products Regulation will take place. EOTA is taking the necessary steps towards clarifying the situation. The UBAtc will communicate with its clients as soon as the situation becomes clearer. You can consult the text accepted by the European Parliament on 7 October 2024, here: https://lnkd.in/epccPbUr Annually, the UBAtc issues some 25 European Technical Assessments. You may find them all on the following page: https://lnkd.in/gfCdmid9. #UBAtc #ETA #CPR #laconstructiondedemain #CEMarking #EOTA #EAD #ConstructionProductsRegulation
