18th Things WWDC24 Apple Event 😍 Apple has announced new AI features under the "Apple Intelligence" brand. These features will be free but limited to specific devices such as the iPhone 15 Pro and newer iPad and Mac models with M1 or newer chips. Older iPhones and the standard iPhone 15 will not have access to these features. Key features include an enhanced Siri, writing tools across the system, image generation, and genAI-powered emojis. The features will be available in beta in US English as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia this fall, with additional language support and features planned for next year. Apple Let me start by saying I have a huge bias against Apple. They think if a new #iPhone only works for one year and 276 days that it had a "good run." This was my teen's phone. She took care of it. I've always had android phones and I think I've owned maybe 5 in 24 years. Onto the news- Yesterday, I learned about and watched the new #iPad commercial. I'm attaching it to this post in case you haven't seen it. As I watched it I felt completely defeated. It crushed my spirit. Apple was taking all of the good things in our world and destroying them. The gimmick is that this is the slimmest iPad ever. Ok. From my woman's perspective I immediately thought of how Apple could show us it was the slimmest: Take the iPad around the house. Show us how it's slimmer than all the books in the bookcase, slimmer than the dishes in the cupboard. Slimmer than the TV. Slimmer than the towels in the bathroom. Slimmer than the paper magazines. Slimmer than a GLP-1 shot. I'm not a marketer so showing us how the iPad is slimmer was the best idea I had. If you like it - please take it! Or maybe Apple is telling us the truth. As the audience was staring at $999 written on a massive screen, Steve addressed them, explaining how the features of the iPad were worth the price. Within a second, the $999 changed to $499, followed by Steve announcing that the price of the iPad was just $499, not $999. This reduction in price from what the audience expected made them feel $499 was a good deal. This is called the Anchoring effect.
