An unsponsored real review: Exterior Positives: - It certainly looks solid with the beefed-up arms. - I’m glad they improved tie-down points and fixed the quick coupler design. - The 265 like the 289D3 has great power going into a pile and breakout force. Exterior negatives: - I’m still not a fan of less ground clearance on the newer skid steers. Our 277B has 14” of clearance underneath. The 289D and 289D3 have 8.9” and the new 265 is down to 8.5”. This gets noticeable when trying to pass over obstacles or working in muddy conditions. - I appreciate the attempt to give more room to exit the machine when the bucket cannot be fully down but it does not compare to the manufacturers that design the front window to roll up and over the operator like an excavator does. - It feels like the bucket is closer to the operator. I don’t know if it’s just visibility improvements or if you physically sit closer, but when loading a truck or the bucket is up high I worry about people messing up an spilling material onto the cab. - Since cat increased the track width on the 289D3 and the 265 is the same, the machine does not have enough power when in rabbit mode to make tight turns when on high traction surfaces like concrete and blacktop. Interior: - I can’t stand the time lag for the computers on the nextgen excavators to start up. I’ve said this to product specialist and engineers before and now it’s infected the skid steers. Don’t incorporate technology if it’s going to slow down work. I recognize and appreciate how incredibly comfortable and smooth the new equipment is compared to machines of the past and old generation operators would light me up for my complaints but let’s have high standards. It pushes innovation and improvement. For lack of room to write, I did not discuss all the great features that we have become used to on the cat skid steers, but I have not seen anyone mention the negatives of the new models…. Going back a few years, if you wanted to put machine control on a midi/mini excavator, it came with a caveat… It will only be accurate when the boom is perpendicular to the cab. Tracked Carriers Built in the UK in Tiptree, Essex, Tracked Carriers produces a range of five tracked carriers from the 300kg capacity 300 L to the 4,000kg 4000 PRO. All are battery powered and have fully proportional radio remote controls, 45 degree gradeability and travel speeds from 1.1 to 3.5 km per hour. A wide range of accessories for the carriers include a fifth wheel and a dolly for transporting long and heavy loads. The dolly - available on the 1200 and 2200 R/PRO models - is manually steerable and gives an additional 1,000kg capacity. Also available on the same models is the rotating platform making it easier to manoeuvre loads through awkward spaces, an A frame stillage for moving sheets of glass and other panel materials, a dozer blade, corner posts, tow bar, winch, stair climbing kit, pallet cradle, pivot bearers and the AC1200 crane attachment. Power for the crane attachment is taken from the smart auxiliary output socket featured on all 1200 PRO machines. This provides power on demand for the hydraulic pump within the crane and also disables drive functions once the crane is operational.
