Just came across a compelling piece by the Center for the Study of Social Policy on 'Removing the Barriers Facing Providers of Culturally Responsive Services.' It's an important read for anyone committed to dismantling the barriers that prevent families and children of color from receiving the support they need. One of the findings that stuck out to us was how providers struggle to navigate restrictive evidence-based requirements. Because there are very few evidence-based findings and little time and resources that can be devoted to gathering data, sometimes much-needed services are not redirected to communities that need them most. A possible solution? Get agencies to collaborate with community members in identifying effective practices via focus groups, town halls, and surveys. Then, fund organizations that offer services matching these needs AND support evaluations to build evidence. We encourage you to dive into more recommendations in the report to help policymakers and officials eliminate hurdles for children and families of color to succeed. https://lnkd.in/eT6M2BY8

::::Advocacy often begins at home:::: Many young people are passionate about change, but sometimes the most impactful work starts by addressing the needs of our own communities. When we invest in our local areas, it creates visible, tangible benefits, inspires others, and builds credibility. Starting local also allows us to gain experience and understand community dynamics before tackling larger or international issues. Advocacy on this level can range from helping with local health awareness, organizing youth activities, addressing social challenges, or creating educational programs within your own communities. Each step not only strengthens the community but also empowers young people to become effective advocates on broader issues over time. Let's continue to value and prioritize the growth and health of our own communities, creating a ripple effect that can inspire others far beyond our local borders!

Orchard Place is the only provider in Iowa certified by The Sanctuary Institute. This certification symbolizes our organization’s commitment to providing a higher level of care, a trauma-sensitive environment for the children and families we serve, and a better work environment for our team members. One easy way to use Sanctuary values is by holding a "Community Meeting" where the following questions are asked: How are you feeling today? The purpose of this question is to help all of us recognize our feelings and to manage them. What are your goals for today? Asking this question keeps us focused on the future. Who can you ask for help? The purpose of this question is to build our relationships with each other and to know we are not in this alone. #OrchardPlaceStrong #CommunityMeeting #Support #ChildrensMentalHealth #ConnectedToFeelings

Dear Stakeholder, An African family cried out and lamented that West Northamptonshire council has ruined his life, can you be of help? If you miss our Live Show on Saturday, don't worry follow the link below, and reach out if you can be of any assistance or possible signposting. Enough is Enough! What we're seeing in UK Children's Social Care : https://lnkd.in/eAii7MfF The weekly Live Show Programme offers a fresh approach to parenting and gives the information and skills required to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, with aims to create changes to the system that improve life chances for children born into minoritized communities for ever; this can be a generational shift in the way we prepare families and mainstream services for the best possible outcomes, rather than systematically repeating the mistakes of the past. Save The Woman continues to support campaigns for positive change, using evidence from our community engagement. While lobbying the local authority to improve their training for professionals, we realised parents, which includes international students might also be in need of awareness building and training. In response to that need, we set up an Africentric parenting course taught from an African perspective, so parents appreciate potential for misunderstanding, learn to communicate appropriately. We look forward to partnering with as many interest groups and organisations, to offer parents generous support services and strengthen families in line with the recent Government initiative. On 2 February 2023, the government published a new vision to transform children's service social care: 'Children's social care: stable homes, built on love’ which was backed by £200 million of additional investment. A proactive approach of a programme with the expectation to support families and provide the right support at the right time so that children can thrive with their families. Once again, thank you for your interest in our work, and we appreciate your continued support. Let's collectively protect and safeguard our children and young people by empowering parents!
