This week marks National Work Zone Awareness Week. It may seem obvious to use caution when driving through a work zone, but statistically, many drivers find themselves in accidents – in fact, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, over 1,189 work zone crashes occurred between 2021 and 2023. To prevent accidents from occurring, here are some brief tips to keep in mind while navigating a work zone. #safetyfirst #nationalworkzoneawarenessweek #workzone #drivingsafety #construction #constructionindustry #constructionsafety #driving #workzone #roadwork #roadworkahead

Road Safety: 2. Let us begin with Road safety for self, first. Until we form a structured Organisation to conduct programs (formulated by a committee of experts), with your help - at your locations, to reach out to larger masses; let us try the following: 1. Take a pledge that from now onwards and for ever, I will not break any Traffic Rules (24 x7), while I am driving (any vehicle) myself or not let the driver break traffic rules, if I am travelling as passenger with someone else. 2. Also, advocate to all your family members, friends and colleagues for following point no. 1, above. If you and your family will be safe on roads, you will be able to help others, after we begin our programs with larger outreach! Thank you. 🙏

Never Drive Impaired: Alcohol, drugs, and certain medications can impair your ability to drive safely. The theme of this year’s Road Safety Week is ‘After the crash, every road victim counts’. While reports show a decline in road deaths since 2022, the picture is far from perfect. For instance, while the number of fatalities in bus and coach were smaller compared to other vehicle types, reports indicate an increase in the trend. The report also shines the spotlight on three contributing factors with the largest number of collisions – speed, behaviour or inexperience, and distraction or impairment. How can business owners or those responsible for operations improve safety standards within their organisations and embed ‘safety as a cultural trait’ so it becomes second nature? Join us for our Road Safety Week special webinar on 20 November at 12pm with Nick Elliott, Chair, IRTE PSC and James Backhouse, Legal Director, Backhouse Jones Solicitors as they delve into the real-life incidents that paved the way to new safety best practices that have been then integrated into organisational cultures.
