Managing over 12 personal training clients is a whole new level. If you've been handling just a few clients, you might think you've got it under control. But once you cross that 12-client threshold and hit six figures, everything changes. At this stage, your approach needs to shift. You’ll need to post more content, start building mini systems to streamline your operations, and seriously consider hiring your first employees, like training assistants and an administrative assistant. It's also crucial to solidify the setup of your business—this means implementing semi-private training sessions, securing a reliable training space through a joint venture, and ramping up your marketing efforts to continue growing. While anyone can manage 10 or 12 clients, scaling beyond that requires a different mindset and strategy. Knowing this in advance will help you prepare for the next level.

For your educational company, the onboarding process might include orientations on curriculum, student management systems, and teaching methodologies, along with introductions to faculty and staff. In your marketing company, onboarding could involve training on client management tools, marketing strategies, branding guidelines, and introductions to key clients or projects. For the production company, the onboarding process may include safety training, equipment familiarization, workflow protocols, and introductions to production teams and supervisors. Each company's process would likely be tailored to its specific needs and industry practices.

Some of my clients get overwhelmed with the costs of taking on a formal professional development policy and budget. Here are some very inexpensive ways to show you care about development without a huge upfront investment or per-employee budget: 1) Peer-to-peer learning: your people are already experts on a wide variety of stuff. Have them share their knowledge with their peers in webinars (remote) or lunch & learns (in-person and hybrid). 2) Book club: pick a title that everyone can benefit from and read it together. Meet weekly for accountability and to share perspectives on the material. "Supercommunicators" by Charles Duhigg is a book on my list that I bet every employee could benefit from reading. 3) Publication sharing: create a habit of sharing the best of whatever publications you already subscribe to. We often subscribe to these but rarely make full use of the material. Set a reminder to share something at least once a week. Do you have any other suggestions?
